Over the decades, the Porsche brand has grown wider, incorporating mid-engined specials like the 904, 959 and Carrera GT; entry-level sports cars like the 924, 968 and Boxster; and even SUVs in the form of the Cayenne and Macan.

Porsche has built more race cars than any other manufacturer, and its motorsport history is packed with myriad event and championship wins. It counts landmark events such as the Monte Carlo rally, 24 Hours of Daytona, Paris-Dakar rally, and 24 Hours of Le Mans among its victories.

Models such as the Carrera RS 2.7, built to homologate the 911 for Group 4 GT racing, set the template for legendary pared-back specials, including the likes of the 964 Carrera RS, 996 GT3 RS, and 997 GT2 RS.

Porsche is the best-selling marque on the Collecting Cars platform, with more than 2,000 sales completed - including no fewer than 1,500 examples of the 911 from every generation, spanning the 1960s through to the present day.

To date, Collecting Cars has seen sales of more than 250 911 Turbos and 150 911 GT3s. Among the particularly special 911s sold on the platform were the 964 Turbo 3.6 ‘X88’ owned by 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button (£317,464), a restored 930 Turbo in stunning Emerald Green that set a world record for a right-hand drive car (AUD$410,000), and a rare UK-delivered 911 3.2 Speedster that was offered from 22-year ownership (£155,000).

Fans of the platform will also remember The Leonard Collection in 2021, which included no fewer than 23 landmark Porsches, achieving a total of £7.5 million in just one evening.

More recently, the platform has hosted a special ‘Air-Cooled Sunday’ event, selling a raft of valuable early and modern classic Porsches, including the ex-Ken Block 911 SC ‘Safari’ (£241,000), a rare 993 Turbo X50 (£124,500), and a Paul Stephens Clubsport 320 (£161,000).

Collecting Cars is the market leader for selling high-value Porsches online.
