July saw a broad collection of cars and bikes auctioned to the Australian market on Collecting Cars, hitting a variety of price points and offering machines ranging from the classic and collectible, to the luxurious or the modified, and to race machinery and the unusual.

We were pleased to see a particularly strong performance from Mercedes-Benz this month, with two beautiful classics and a supercar finding their way to new custodians. A stunning 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL reached A$198,888, benefitting from a full nut-and-bolt restoration and wearing a timeless combination of silver paint over a red leather-trimmed cabin. Equipped with a 1.9-litre inline-four and four-speed manual, this car also featured the rare side-facing removable occasional rear seat.

This Australian-delivered automatic example was powered by the 3.5-litre V8 and is believed to be one of only 245 cars built in right-hand drive, just 88 of which were delivered to Australia.
