NO RESERVE: 1992 PORSCHE 911 (964) CARRERA RS

KEY FACTS

• A very low-mileage example of a hallowed analogue sports car, with just two private owners from new.
• It is powered by a 260bhp 3.6-litre ‘M64/03’ air-cooled flat-six, unique to the RS model, coupled to a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission.
• Acquired by the vendor from Thomas Schmitz - arguably the world’s leading 964 RS specialist - with single ownership in Italy prior to this.
• The correct mileage from new is 39,385 km (a new speedometer was fitted at 33,240 km).
• While the car was shipped to the UK to join The Leonard Collection in mid-2015, it has only just been road registered with the DVLA.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

• Finished in vibrant Maritime Blue, the interior remains original, with the Recaro bucket seats trimmed in black leather, and with the centre panels consisting of dark blue, Maritime Blue, and light blue leather.
• The cabin specification remains true to the RS’ purist approach, with no radio fitted and a correct blanking plate present.
• Almost entirely original, the car has been fitted with a struct brace in the front compartment, and both the catalytic converter and rearmost exhaust silencer have previously been removed - though the original parts remain with the car.
• Accompanying the car is the handbook, service book, and RS supplement; as well as the original key pouch and spare keys, the tool kit, spare wheel and jack, and a car cover. The Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory specification, an original RS brochure is present, and there is also the Italian log book.

CONDITION

• No known body damage, and the vendor states that the car “is as clean underneath as it is on top”.
• The Maritime Blue paint finish is very smart, and is believed to be entirely original.
• The car is fitted with 17-inch magnesium ‘Cup’ alloy wheels. The markings are less clear on the rear wheels, and they have almost certainly been refurbished in the past.
• Its interior upholstery presents very well, commensurate with the low mileage, and the dashboard and door card trims are in generally great shape. Some very minor marks are visible, as the fixing cover on the driver’s side pull handle is loose as shown.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
• The most recent MOT test was on 10 September 2020 at 6,120 km, which was a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever.

SERVICE HISTORY

The most recent service was carried out in December 2019 at an indicated 6,098 km (a correct 39,338 km) by Porsche Centre Newcastle. While the car arrived in the UK in 2015, it was not registered until 2021, but nevertheless had two services during this period as well as regular MOT tests.

SUMMARY

This Porsche 964 Carrera RS has wonderful provenance, with just one previous private owner in Italy, and it was acquired by the vendor from the world-leading RS specialist. Presented in excellent condition, and boasting very low mileage, this 911 would be a fine addition to any serious collection, but can also be enjoyed on the next owner’s favourite roads straight away.
