WC Salon Prive B1

The recent weekend saw The Collecting Group bring the Collecting Cars and Watch Collecting brands together to showcase consignments and meet current and prospective customers at two high-profile events on the UK calendar.

From Thursday to Saturday , the teams were exhibiting at the prestigious Salon Privé London event, hosted on the lawns of the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea. Fantastic weather set the tone for a great event, with Collecting Cars bringing sparkling consignments in the form of a pair of exceptionally sought-after Jaguar E-Types.

Not to be confused with examples from later in the production run, the 1961 3.8 Roadster with ‘Outside Bonnet Lock’ was the 38th of the first 50 right-hand-drive cars built, benefiting from both a previous restoration and significant recent mechanical refurbishment by marque specialist Classic Motor Cars (CMC).

Alongside this elegant Roadster was the fifth right-hand-drive Fixed Head Coupe built, with all the correct early features, including being the first such car to have internal bonnet locks. Previously described by CMC as “the crème de la crème; the most exacting and correct E-Type that we know of”, this exceptional E-Type subsequently sold on Collecting Cars for £297,200 – making it the third most expensive Fixed Head Coupe ever sold.

In Watch Collecting’s own consignments tent, there were some great interactions with both seasoned bidders as well as first-time auction sellers, and multiple high-end timepieces were secured that will be coming to the platform very soon.

On Sunday, the team turned out at the superb Bicester Sunday Scramble, with Collecting Cars’ status as official auction partner meaning there was a large display on the ‘Scramblers Lawn’ to delight the attendees. A Porsche 997 GT3 that was live for bids drew plenty of attention (subsequently selling for £67,000), while a 991 Speedster Heritage Edition highlighted the platform’s position as the leading Porsche marketplace.

Coffee and pastries were served to assembled guests, with some intriguing discussions about both Collecting Cars and Watch Collecting. The Sunday Scramble is always a great opportunity to catch up with regular buyers and sellers, but also to introduce the brand to enthusiasts who may never have used an auction before.

With great weather, incredible cars and fruitful conversations, these events were rewarding for our customers and the business alike, and further helped to showcase The Collecting Group’s leading online marketplaces for collectables.

Don’t forget to sign up to our Coffee Run at Bicester Heritage, taking place on Saturday 20 May, which promises to be bigger and better than ever!
