PORSCHE RACE CAR FACTORY LITERATURE - FOR VARIOUS MODELS

The Porsche 934 RSR Group 4 racing cars of the 1970s are some of the most successful and iconic from the marque’s history, while the 956 and 962 sports-prototype cars that followed would also prove remarkably capable, notching up outright wins at Le Mans.

The lot consists of original Porsche manuals from the racing department at Porsche, which were acquired by the vendor more than 10 years ago from an ex-factory employee who worked on these racing cars during his career.

A 1974 Porsche 911 RSR 3.0 owner’s manual is the earliest item; a first edition in German, with 30 pages covering all the key details as well as many photos and illustrations. In the same folder is a 1974 parts list, which runs to 89 pages in four languages, covering every nut and bolt present on the RSR.

From 1976, there is another German owner’s manual for the Porsche 934, with 48 pages covering the key information pertaining to running and racing one of these machines. There is also a 1976 parts catalogue, with even more comprehensive detail than the earlier binder, running to 148 pages. Both are kept in the original dark red binders. The final 934 item is a US-version technical instruction and parts list binder; another first edition from January 1977, it includes 38 pages of detail.

Also included is an incredibly rare owner’s manual and parts catalogue for the Porsche 956 sports-prototype. Dated to March 1983, the former is in German only with 74 pages, while the parts list is in both English and German and runs to 427 pages. It is unquestionably the ‘bible’ on the 956 technical data, with every component and parts number listed.

Finally, a similar level of detail is present in the original owner’s manual and parts catalogue for the Porsche 962. A 76-page handbook in German is accompanied by a 410-page catalogue that is also in English, and again contains a vast amount of detail covering every element of the legendary Le Mans-winning racer.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
