2018 BMW M5 COMPETITION

This 2018 BMW M5 Competition is a well-specified example of the marque’s first-ever four-wheel drive M5. With a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 617bhp and 553lb-ft of torque, the power is controlled by an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift. The odometer reads only 9,233 miles from new.

First registered on 6 November 2018, this M5 has two previous keepers on the log book. The current vendor acquired the car in August 2020 as a ‘Dream Car Giveaway’ competition prize, but is offering it for sale in order to fund other projects.

The M5 Competition has a raft of upgrades when compared to the regular M5, including stiffer suspension springs, increased front camber, a more vocal exhaust system and a 7mm lower ride height as standard.

Presented in its original white paintwork, this M5 is in exceptional condition, with very little signs of use. There are a handful of light surface stone chips on the front carbon-fibre splitter, but the carbon-fibre sill extensions, rear boot spoiler and roof panel are entirely unmarked and retain their gloss lacquer. The lenses for the adaptive LED headlights are also free of imperfections, and there are no dents or shut line imperfections visible. The lightweight 12-spoke alloy wheels are in as-new condition, with no kerbing or scratch marks marring the finish.

Moving inside, this modern super saloon offers an appealing blend of high-tech features and comfort. The black leather upholstery is in excellent condition throughout, with the seats free of discolouration or scratches. The rear seats are also free of marks or scuffs, with the seat belts are all accented by M colour stitching.

This example has been well-specified, with front, rear and side cameras, windscreen head-up display, wireless phone charging capability, and electrically-operated front seats with driver’s memory function being just some of the highlights. The silver dash trim is blemish-free, while the centre console presents in as-new condition. The vendor reports that everything is in full working order, with no pre-existing faults.

This M5 benefits from the balance of the manufacturer warranty, which is valid until November 2021. It is in entirely original condition throughout; making it a good candidate for a warranty extension should the next owner desire to activate this. It is understood to be in excellent mechanical order, as you would expect given the low mileage.

As the BMW was first registered in November 2018, its first MOT is not due until 5 November 2021. It wears the original manufacturer fitment Pirelli P Zero tyres all round, and the vendor states that all four tyres have over 6mm of tread remaining.

Now offered to an enthusiast to enjoy as intended, this M5 will reach its next owner with the full complement of BMW handbooks, digitised service history and even the original BMW-branded oil top up bottle.

This example has also been specified with the optional Display Key, with its touchscreen functionality allowing the user to lock and unlock the doors and windows remotely, as well as checking the fuel range while outside the vehicle. This is included along with the regular key, with both offering keyless-go convenience.

Combining deeply impressive four-wheel drive performance with luxury features and handsome styling, this BMW M5 Competition is a well-specified super saloon in excellent condition. It would make for an attractive daily driver, in equal parts thrilling and cosseting, or could be saved to use for longer tours as a very practical road trip companion.
