NO RESERVE: 2016 PORSCHE 911 R

This 2016 Porsche 911 R is a pristine example of the acclaimed 991-generation limited edition, which has been well-cared for and is offered for sale with very low mileage from new. Under the rear engine cover is the thrilling naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six, which sends 493bhp to the rear wheels via a slick six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 2,158 miles.

Created by Porsche as the ultimate driver’s car, only 991 examples of the 911 R were built, using the high-revving engine from the GT3 RS, but coupling it to an engaging manual gearbox. As shown on the plaque in its cabin, this example is number 374 of that production run, and was specified with GT Silver Metallic paintwork with red racing stripes and a black leather and ‘Pepita’ houndstooth fabric interior.

Additional equipment includes the Sport Chrono Package and desirable single-mass flywheel, body-coloured headlight washers, and clear tail lights. First registered in September 2016 and supplied to its first owner by Porsche Centre Solihull, this 911 R was acquired by the seller nearly three years ago.

Owing to its sparing use and its owners’ careful custodianship, the car’s bodywork and paint are in outstanding condition, with no panel damage, dents, chips or scratches to speak of. The GT Silver finish is offset by dual red racing stripes, while black decals run down the car’s flanks, punctuated by red ‘Porsche’ text. At the rear, this 911 R is equipped with the optional set of clear tail lights, which integrate well with the silver paintwork for a sleek, modern look. It rides on a set of lightweight 20-inch centre-lock alloy wheels, which are finished in gloss black, while bright yellow brake callipers and ceramic brake discs can be seen behind.

On stepping into the cabin, you are met by the lightweight carbon-fibre seats, which are trimmed in black leather with ‘Pepita’ houndstooth fabric centre panels, and are in impeccable order. Ahead, the top of the dashboard and the steering wheel rim are clad in black leather, which is accented by silver contrast stitching. Factory-fitted equipment includes a premium Bose surround sound system, dual-zone climate control, PCM with satellite navigation and the all-important front axle lift system. All of the buttons, switches and electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This 911 R’s last routine maintenance was carried out in November 2020 at 2,154 miles by Porsche Centre Wilmslow, with technicians changing the spark plugs, brake fluid and engine oil, as well as replacing the oil, pollen and allergen filters. Prior to this, Porsche Centre Solihull performed an intermediate oil service in May 2018 at 2,101 miles.

The car’s most recent MOT test was conducted on 12 November 2020 at 2,154 miles, which resulted in a clean, first-time pass. All four wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which date to 2016 and are in excellent condition, with ample tread remaining.

Accompanying this rare Porsche are all of its original handbooks and documents, as well as its past MOT test certificates and service invoices.

Described by its current owner as being in perfect condition, this Porsche 911 R is a fantastic example of the limited-run driver’s car, which became a collectible performance icon almost as soon as it was announced. While it would make a fine addition to any serious marque collector’s garage, this is a car that truly deserves to be driven, and it will thrill its next owner whether on the road or the track.
