2013 PORSCHE (981) CAYMAN S - MANUAL

This Porsche 981 Cayman S is a wonderful driver’s car, finished in a smart specification with the desirable Sport Chrono Plus package and Porsche Sports Exhaust, and which has been kept in superb condition. Mounted behind the occupants is a 3.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, producing up to 321bhp, coupled to the involving six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 32,820 miles from new, and the car is covered by a Porsche extended warranty until November 2021.

A noted improvement from the earlier iterations, at launch the car received numerous full five-star reviews, including from Evo magazine which stated that the Cayman had “come of age”, calling the 981 S “a car with an intoxicating blend of silken powertrain, feelsome steering, breathtaking poise and keen pricing”.

First registered in September 2013, this Cayman S had just one previous keeper on the log book, and has been owned by the private vendor for the last three years.

Its bodywork and paint is in excellent condition, and was fully inspected as part of a Porsche 111-point check, which confirmed that the finish was all original. Its Agate Grey hue gives the car a sophisticated appearance, and it has evidently been well-cared for by its two owners. There are some very minor stone chips around the front end, and some slight delamination around the offside headlight, which are barely noticeable until close inspection. The car rides on 20-inch Carrera S alloy wheels, in a smart satin grey finish, which have been refurbished and are pristine.

In the cabin, the seats and armrests are trimmed in Luxor Beige leather, a costly option when new, though it was specified with the standard seats and electric seat back adjustment, rather than the heavier all-electric items. There are metal accents around the interior, and white backings for the speedometer and rev counter. All of the leather remains in great shape, with no visible wear or discolouration - even on the driver’s outer bolster. Factory-fitted equipment includes the Sport Chrono Plus package, which includes rev matching and Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts, as well as the switchable Porsche Sports Exhaust, bi-xenon headlights, and dual-zone climate control. There are no electrical faults, and no dashboard warning lights.

The last scheduled maintenance was in November 2019 at 26,834 miles, when Porsche Centre Edinburgh carried out a minor service, as well as renewing the rear brakes lines and brake fluid. The ribbed V-belt was also changed, along with the air filter and pollen filter, and a four-wheel alignment was completed. New brake pads have been fitted more recently.

At both of the last services, the car underwent the full 111-point warranty checks to keep the car under extended cover - which runs until November 2021, and which can be transferred to the next private owner. Earlier in its life, it was seen for a major service in November 2017 at Porsche Centre Swindon, which included fresh spark plugs and brake fluid, and for its first service in November 2015.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 11 August 2020 at 28,825 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. In January 2020, the wheels were fitted with a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, which therefore remain in excellent condition with around 6mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the complete original book pack, including the maintenance record, along with numerous receipts and other paperwork. Two keys are also present.

This Porsche 981 Cayman S is one of the quintessential all-rounders, delivering an engaging and exciting driving experience for road trip adventures, while being perfectly comfortable and practical enough to use as a smart daily driver. The first owner undoubtedly had its performance in mind when choosing the specification, opting to omit unnecessary luxuries, while opting not only for the manual transmission but also the rare Sport Chrono Plus package and Porsche Sports Exhaust.
