2012 BMW (F10) M5 PERFORMANCE EDITION

This eye-catching BMW M5 Performance Edition is a low-mileage example of a rare variant of the F10-generation super saloon. Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 552bhp and mated to a seven-speed automated dual-clutch transmission, this German super saloon can sprint to 60mph from rest in 4.3 seconds. The odometer reads 32,860 miles from new.

This original UK-market car is one of only 30 Performance Edition M5s, with the production run divided equally between blue, white and red cars. While performance remains the same as the standard car, this special M5 wears ‘Frozen Blue’ paint, and was equipped with £22,075 worth of optional equipment as standard, including the M Sport multi-function seats with lumbar support, split-folding rear seats, soft-close doors, a reversing camera, and the BMW Professional 12-speaker system. It also features Alcantara trim for the headlining and steering wheel, unique blue stitching to the seats and dashboard, and blue binding around the floor mats.

First registered in November 2012, this car has three previous keepers on the log book. The vendor has owned the car for the last five years, and state that it has always been run on Super Unleaded petrol and garaged when not in use.

Its model-specific colour is reported to be in excellent condition, with a recent front bumper respray to remove stone chips, though there are a few small ones present on the bonnet. The lights, glass and body trims are in very good order, with no signs of damage or discolouration. The BMW retains its original 20-inch alloy wheels, which are free of kerbing marks, having only minor deterioration of the finish on the centre caps.

The M5’s cabin is a combination of luxury features and exclusive Performance Edition touches. The electrically-adjustable leather seats are in very good order, with only minor signs of use, but with no splits or damage to their upholstery. The Alcantara steering wheel shows minor signs of use, while the gear lever, handbrake switch, and iDrive controls remain in good order. The extended leather dashboard is free of discolouration, with an eye-catching BMW M Performance Edition plaque present on the dashboard.

This limited-run model was well-specified from new, with dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation, head-up display and a sunroof all included. The Performance Edition extras included the comfort access package, high-beam assistant, telephone USB audio interface, and the speed limit display. There are no known electrical faults, and no warning lights on the dashboard.

First supplied by Dick Lovett BMW, the important running-in service was completed at 1,219 miles, while the next service was carried out by Sytner BMW at 6,074 miles. Its last scheduled maintenance was in August 2020 at Cooper BMW in York, which entailed replacement of the engine oil, intake silencer, microfilter, spark plugs, and brake fluid, as well as a re-gassing of the air-conditioning system.

Prior to this, it was serviced by Cooper BMW in June 2018 and Stratstone BMW in June 2016. The air-conditioning condenser was also replaced in May 2018. Readouts of the condition-based service indicators are shown in the photo gallery, with the next engine oil service currently not due until August 2022 or in 18,000 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 20 June 2019 at 30,588 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories – the same result that it has achieved on every MOT test to date. The next MOT is not due until 19 December 2020, due to the COVID-19 extension scheme.

The car wears matching Continental SportContact 6 tyres all round, with approximately 4.5mm of tread remaining at the front, and 2.1-2.4mm at the rear – so the latter will need to be replaced imminently.

Offering immense performance, executive comfort and a rare specification, this limited-run M5 Performance Edition is a rare opportunity to acquire an acclaimed super saloon. Evidently cherished to date, it would be a great addition to any collection of modern classics.
