2011 PORSCHE (987) BOXSTER SPYDER

A rare and sought-after Porsche, the Spyder is often regarded to be the definitive model from the 987 Boxster era. Powered by the 320hp naturally aspirated 3.4-litre flat-six, mated to a seven-speed PDK transmission with paddle shift, it offers impressive performance in addition to its retro styling cues.



This Spyder’s aluminium engine deck lid covers the mid-mounted flat-six and the rear trunk compartment, as well as incorporating the lash-down points for the Spyder’s unique soft top roof. It sits 20mm lower, and with more power, than the standard 987.

The interior is elevated beyond that of a standard Boxster with branded door sills, dashboard plate and body-coloured centre console trim. Rare factory-option Recaro carbon-backed bucket seats are present, trimmed in a blend of Alcantara and soft leather, and are accented by red safety belts and matching fabric door pulls. This car is equipped with the Sport Chrono package.

The Spyder shaves over 80kg from a standard 987, with much of the weight saving thanks to the signature soft top – a lightweight fabric roof that can be manually erected in under a minute and eliminates the heavy electric mechanism usually found in the Boxster. The construction materials are also enhanced, with aluminium door panels and the alloy Spyder deck lid, alongside the lightweight alloy wheels.

Presenting in excellent condition with original paint all round, the Spyder has never been damaged and retains all factory panels. The black ‘Schwarz’ metallic paintwork is in good condition, with a deep and glossy shine in direct sunlight. There are some minor stone chips on the front bumper and nose, commensurate with the mileage.

The interior of the Boxster Spyder presents in fantastic condition, will minimal entry/exit wear showing only on the driver’s seat lower bolster. All other surfaces present very well, with original switchgear fully operational, and with no warning lights on the dashboard.

The car has a strong service history, with the most recent scheduled maintenance carried out by Porsche Centre Perth in March 2021 at 63,187km. This service was a ‘Porsche Service Special’ which included an engine oil and filter change, checking condition of all drive belts, cooling system, and battery, updating the DTC module, inspecting the exhaust system and under body, check gearing and suspension components, check front and rear brakes, lubricate locks, hinges and latches, check lights, wipers, tire pressures and all fluid levels. The inspection confirmed there are no mechanical concerns and the car starts and runs well. A set of brand-new rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres was fitted in May 2021.

This Porsche 987 Boxster Spyder is a superb contemporary sports car, presented in very good order and with a high factory specification. Undoubtedly now a modern classic that would be a credit to any collection, it is ready to relish on the road, and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
