2011 PORSCHE (987) BOXSTER SPYDER

This Porsche 987 Boxster Spyder is a rare and thrilling open-top sports car, presented in outstanding collector-quality condition and with very low mileage. Mounted behind the driver is a 320bhp 3.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, coupled to the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows just 14,522 miles from new.

An original UK-delivered, right-hand drive example, this Boxster Spyder was first registered in July 2011, supplied by Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex. It was specified in a black-on-black colour scheme, and with the optional Sport Chrono package as well as options such as heated seats, climate control, and a basic radio and CD player. There are four previous registered keepers on the log book, and it was acquired by the current owner two years ago.

Compared to a Boxster S of the same era, the Spyder is around 80kg lighter, thanks in part to the use of aluminium for the door panels and engine cover, as well as weight-saving touches such as fabric door handle pulls. Its suspension is also firmer, sits 20mm lower, and the engine output is 10bhp higher.

The bodywork and paint presents in genuinely pristine condition, with a deep and even shine over all of the panels. The black factory hue is accented by silver surrounds for the front and rear air intakes, which matches the colour of the ‘Porsche’ graphics running down the flanks. The seller notes three very minor stone chips on the gloss black 19-inch wheels - between 2-3mm in size - but otherwise they present in superb order, and are fitted with red rim protectors, which are removable.

Inside, the car is upholstered in full black leather, extending across the sport seats, armrests, door caps, and dashboard. All of the trim is in excellent condition, with no wear to speak of and only signs of light use commensurate with the low mileage. The heated sport seats feature electric adjustment for the backrest, and are accented by red safety belts. The cabin is also equipped with the three-spoke Sport Design steering wheel, climate control, and the Porsche CDR 30 radio and CD player. There are no faults with any of the electrics, and all of the switchgear works perfectly.

The car has a full main dealer and specialist service history, with the most recent scheduled maintenance having been carried out by specialist Northway Porsche in October 2019 at 14,513 miles. It has been securely stored since then, having covered only nine miles in the last nine months. There are no mechanical issues, and the car starts cleanly and runs well.

Its last MOT test was on 11 March 2020 at 14,520 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. In fact, it has always passed the annual inspection with the same fault-free result - a testament to its superb condition.

The wheels are fitted with Porsche N-rated Bridgestone Eagle F1 tyres, in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 265/35 ZR19 at the rear. The front tyres are original from 2011 but still have 5mm of tread remaining, while the rear tyres are date-coded to 2014 and have 6mm of tread.

Accompanying the car is the complete and original set of books stored in the leather wallet, including the stamped warranty and maintenance record. Two keys are also present.

This Porsche 987 Boxster Spyder is a superb example of the marque’s more focused open-top sports car. It is presented in genuinely pristine order throughout, with a comprehensive maintenance history, and wants for nothing. Undoubtedly a coveted modern classic, this Boxster Spyder would make a fine addition to any collection, and is sure to delight its next owner on their favourite roads.
