2010 PORSCHE 911 (997.2) CARRERA 4S CABRIOLET - 30,351 MILES

This Porsche 997.2 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is a wonderfully refined and capable open-top sports car, which combines impressive pace with genuine everyday practicality. It is powered by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, producing up to 380bhp, with all-wheel drive via the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Arguably the most significant improvement in the 997.2 compared to the 997.1 was the introduction of the Direct Fuel Injection system, which eliminated the potentially troublesome IMS of earlier cars. Furthermore, the fast and smooth PDK transmission was added to the range - a major upgrade over the Tiptronic gearbox. The suspension was also enhanced, and LED daytime running lamps and tail lights were added.

This particular car was specified from the factory in the handsome ‘triple black’ colour scheme, and with a number of desirable features such as 911 Turbo alloy wheels and the Sport Chrono package. It was first registered on 31 March 2010, and has just one owner from new, who has kept the car very well maintained.

As it has been in single ownership from new, the vendor can confirm that the car has never suffered from any accident damage, and has never needed remedial paintwork. The metallic black finish around the body is in very good order, showing just some small stone chips around the front bumper and bonnet, as well as a thin scratch on the offside rear wheel arch. The 19-inch alloys are in generally excellent condition, with only the odd minor imperfection and some deterioration of the centre caps.

In the cabin, the black leather upholstery is in superb condition, with some signs of use, but no heavy wear or discolouration. The leather extends across the dashboard, and onto the door caps. Some slight wear is noticeable on the steering wheel, but in general this is a very well-presented interior, commensurate with the low mileage.

Factory-fitted equipment includes the Sport Chrono package, PCM with satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, cruise control, climate control, and heated front seats. The vendor reports that the driver’s side window sometimes fails to automatically close to the top when the soft top is being put up, though the window switch still works. There are no other electrical foibles with the car, and no warning lights on the dashboard.

The last scheduled service was in March 2020 at 29,263 miles, carried out by Porsche Centre Hull. This consisted of intermediate maintenance with an engine oil and filter change, as well as fresh brake fluid.

The two services prior to this were carried out by specialist 911 Sport in Lincolnshire in October 2017 and January 2016 - the latter including replacement of the auxiliary drive belt - and before this it was serviced by Porsche Centre Leeds.in 2014 and 2012. The fuel pump has also previously been replaced.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 17 March 2020 at 29,263 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with the tester noting some damage to the windscreen, and advising on a non-excessive oil leak from the upper sump. The car has been seen for an annual MOT in March every year since 2013 onwards, and has never failed a test.

A full health check carried out by the main dealer during the service and MOT also noted that the exhaust nuts were corroded. They also recorded that the front tyres - while having plenty of tread remaining - were technically of a lower load and speed rating than originally specified.

Accompanying the car is a full set of handbooks, the stamped guarantee and service record, and a raft of service history paperwork.

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is a stylish and sophisticated sports car, which benefits from all of the significant updates brought in by the 997.2 generation model. With single-owner provenance and regular maintenance at Porsche main dealers and a recognised specialist, this is a cherished car that has only ever been used sensibly on the road. It has also always been garaged over the winter months. This could be a great car to keep on hand for sunny weekends or continental road trips, though its versatility also means it could easily take up the role of a smart daily driver.
