2010 PORSCHE 911 (997.2) GT3 RS

This Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a well-maintained and discerning specified example of the track-focused 997.2 generation model. Under the engine lid is an electrifying 450hp 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 13,655 miles from new.

Finished in Carrara White with red decals, this GT3 RS sits on matching red 19-inch centre-lock wheels, and its interior is trimmed in black Nomex RS upholstery over the carbon-fibre bucket seats. There is also carbon-fibre trim for the transmission tunnel cover and the door sill guards plus an Alcantara headlining, Alcantara trim for the steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake grip, and Guards Red seat belts.

Its factory specification includes air-conditioning, the PCM system with navigation and telephone preparation, and the Sport Chrono Plus package. First registered in April 2010, this 911 was acquired by the current owner just over one year ago, and has five previous keepers on the V5C.

The condition of the all-original bodywork is superb, with flush shut lines and no previous damage. Its Carrara White paint finish is in excellent condition, with only the odd very small stone chip around the lower body. The car has been treated to warrantied Ceramic Guard coating to the body panels and glass, applied in July 2020, while in September last year it was also fitted with paint protection film around the front end. There are some minor scuffs on the plastic front lip, but the rest of the body trim is in great shape. Its carbon-fibre rear wing is also pristine, with no damage to the lacquer. It rides on the original 19-inch centre lock GT3 alloys, finished in bright red, which now house carbon-ceramic brake discs and red callipers.

Inside, the focused nature of the GT3 RS is plain to see, with its half roll cage finished in bright red to match the exterior details, and with the carbon-fibre bucket seats upholstered in black Nomex cloth with ‘RS 3.8’ emblems in the headrests. Driver and passenger are secured by Schroth racing harnesses, while standard seat belts in Guards Red are also installed. There is very slight wear to the footwell carpets, but otherwise the cabin is in wonderful condition, commensurate with the low mileage. Carbon-fibre adorns the transmission tunnel console, as well as the door sill guard sections. While this is a track-focused machine, it is also equipped with air-conditioning and the PCM system with navigation, giving it excellent usability for long-distance road trips, and there are no electrical faults whatsoever.

The last maintenance service was in January 2020 at 13,009 miles carried out at independent specialist JZM Porsche. However, other notable work was carried out during 2020 at JZM, which included fitment of carbon-ceramic brake discs in place of the standard items, and installation of a front axle lift system in February 2020. The button for this is discreetly located in the carbon-fibre transmission tunnel trim. In September 2017, the car was serviced by Porsche Centre Bristol at 12,602 miles, when the spark plugs and drive belt were also replaced.

This RS passed an MOT test on 15 March 2021 at 13,655 miles with no advisories whatsoever. Its wheels are all fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which remain in as-new condition having been fitted last year at 13,009 miles.

Accompanying the car are all of the original user guide handbooks, plus a duplicate stamped service record, the original black leather wallet, and two keys.

This Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS is an outstanding example of a lauded high-performance road and track car. It is fair to say that every ‘Rennsport’ model in Porsche’s back catalogue is now coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike, but this particular 911 represents a particularly sought-after model, with its incredible ‘Mezger’ flat-six and beautifully balanced chassis delivering all the thrills you would hope for.
