2010 BMW (E92) M3

This BMW M3 is a capable and well-maintained high-performance coupe. The last of the naturally aspirated M3s, it is powered by the S65 4.0-litre V8 producing 414bhp, driven through the seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows 91,000 miles from new.

The vehicle offered was first registered on the 1 March 2010. There are four previous keepers on the log book, though the most recent is also seller, having changed between personal and business registration. He has owned the car for the last three years. The appropriate cherished number plate ‘M3 YRG’ is included in the sale.

The exterior is described by the seller as being in good condition. The Alpine White paintwork presents well with an even shine, and with a few stone chips to the front bumper, and a paint blemish below the offside tail light. The seller also reports that there three minor door dings on the sides of the car, which are visible in the photo gallery. The ‘Shadow Line’ trim surrounding the window has started to oxidise under the paint, so would benefit from being refinished. The 19-inch wheels have a ‘Plasti Dip’ coating that was applied by the previous owner, and it has started to become uneven and peel from the surface of the alloys in places.

The interior is excellent condition for the mileage. The black leather has no rips or tears, and shows minimal wear throughout. The steering wheel has been re-upholstered in Alcantara with the stitching matching the BMW M colours. This appears to have been done to a high standard with even stitching and tight Alcantara all the way round the circumference. The rest of the interior remains original, and there are no reported faults with any of the switchgear or electrics.

The most recent service was carried out at Deutsch Tech in June 2020 at 88,994 miles. This was for a standard oil and filter change, as well as replacement front brake discs and upgraded pads. The rear pads were also replaced with standard OEM items alongside a new ABS sensor. The service before that was carried out, again, at Deutsch Tech for an engine oil service in April 2019 at 84,461 miles.

The most recent MOT was carried out on the 10 July 2020 resulting in a first-time pass with two minor defects for front windscreen damage and tinted front windows. A rear brake hose ferrule had some corrosion, and the tyres were also noted as being worn – though these have been replaced with Michelin Pilot Super Sport items since the test with 4mm of tread remaining on the front and 5mm on the rear.

The vehicle comes with an extensive service history consisting of main dealer and specialist service invoices. The original handbook, M3 supplement handbook, maintenance record, tyre inflator, full tool kit and first aid kit are all present.

The E92 M3 with the DCT gearbox is a great all-rounder, as CAR magazine reported: “Equipped with our car’s double-clutch semi-auto transmission, the M3 is even more versatile, acting as both a smooth auto, and a fast-firing manual that puts the clunky sequential manual M5 to shame”.

This BMW M3 is a superb performance car, making an excellent candidate for an exciting daily driver, or as just a weekend car. The next owner can appreciate the performance of a motor that won its class in the ‘International Engine of the Year’ contest five times in a row, and this particular vehicle has been well maintained throughout its life. Presented in good order, the E92-era M3 is fast becoming a modern classic, and it is sure to put a big smile on its next owner’s face.
