2008 PORSCHE 911 (997) GT3 CLUBSPORT - 8,008 MILES

This 997.1-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Clubsport is a thrilling track-oriented sports car, presented in fantastic overall condition and with very low mileage from new. Under the engine lid is the sensational 3.6-litre ‘Mezger’ flat-six, which produces 409bhp and revs to 8,400rpm, with rear-wheel drive via an engaging six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays a mere 8,008 miles.

Specified in the classic Porsche hue of Carrara White with a black leather, Nomex and Alcantara interior, this 911 was ordered with the factory Clubsport package, which includes lightweight carbon-fibre bucket seats, 19-inch GT3 alloy wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes. It is also equipped with bi-xenon headlights, an upgraded stereo and the PCM infotainment system. The car also has the blue body decals and wheel centres, to match the appearance of the owner’s Carrera 2.7 RS – which is also offered on Collecting Cars at the same time.

An original UK-market car, this GT3 was first registered on 14 January 2008, and has been with its current owner from new. As well as maintaining the car to a high standard, they have also had it subtly upgraded for improved on-track performance and safety.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, and the vendor notes that the front bumper cover and lower spoiler were replaced in March 2018. The Carrara White paintwork is also very smart, and is entirely original, apart from on the replacement bumper cover and part of the front wing. While there are a few marks, including stone chips on the bonnet, a couple of small marks near the rear of the driver’s door and scuffs on the bottom edge of the front splitter, these are minor flaws. All four wheels are in great shape, and house yellow brake callipers and high-performance ceramic discs.

In the cabin, this GT3 features the correct carbon-fibre Clubsport bucket seats, which are covered in black Nomex fabric and are fitted with a pair of bright blue Sparco six-point harnesses. Both present very well indeed, with no undue signs of wear in line with the car’s low mileage. Black leather trim extends across the dashboard and onto the upper sections of the door cards, which are accented by black Alcantara centre panels. Alcantara also covers the steering wheel rim, gear knob and handbrake lever, which are all in very good order. To provide additional safety during track sessions, the car is equipped with a plumbed-in fire extinguisher system, as well as a Peltor helmet-to-helmet communication system. All of the switchgear is reported to work without fault, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Its most recent routine maintenance was carried out by Porsche specialist Charles Ivey in March 2021 at 8,001 miles, when the engine oil was changed and the tyres were replaced. Prior to this, the car was serviced by Carrera Performance in July 2020 at 7,938 miles and in February 2020, which included replacement of the ignition coils and spark plugs.

During the seller’s 13 years of ownership, they have also fitted a number of uprated parts for improved on-track performance, including upgraded brake pads and radiator covers, and a Stage 1 geometry setup by Porsche specialist Parr to further enhance its handling.

This 997’s last MOT test was conducted on 31 March 2021 at 8,001 miles, which resulted in a clean pass after all four tyres were replaced. Today, all four wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, which are in brand-new condition. The car will be accompanied by all of its original handbooks.

Described by Evo magazine’s John Barker as “one of the best driver’s 911s ever” at its launch, the 997.1-generation Porsche 911 GT3 is an undeniably thrilling sports car, which blends blistering pace on the track with impressive on-road usability. Having covered a little over 8,000 miles from new in the hands of a single owner, and benefitting from a number of discreet upgrades, this 911 would make the ideal track day toy, and would be a great acquisition for any keen circuit driver or collector.
