2008 BMW Z4 M COUPE

This 2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe is a thrilling yet practical sports coupe, presented in a rare special order Individual factory colour scheme, and with comprehensive service history. Its engine is the 3.2-litre straight-six S54 engine producing 338bhp, with rear-wheel-drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 90,902 miles from new.

An original UK market car, this Z4 M was supplied by Robert Stern BMW in Worcester, and was first registered in April 2008. There are four previous registered keepers on the log book, and the seller has owned it for the last five months, covering nearly 3,000 miles on the road. It is only being offered for sale due to other business commitments.

The BMW’s bodywork is in great condition, with no dents or dings in any of the panels. The front bumper has previously been repainted in the original Monaco Blue to rectify stone chips, and the only blemishes in the finish today are small ‘road rash’ stone chips at the front, and on the side skirts ahead of the rear arches.

The light lenses, window rubbers and plastic body trims are in great shape, with no cracks or chips – with the exception of the nearside rear window rubber, which has some light superficial damage. The standard alloys were upgraded in 2019 to a brand-new and original boxed set of genuine OEM lightweight forged 19-inch items from the M3 CSL – not to be confused with cheaper replicas – which are in excellent condition, with only a minor kerb graze on the offside front wheel.

Inside, the seats and door cards are upholstered in Champagne Nappa leather trim. The M Sport seats feature electric adjustment, three-stage heating, and memory settings on the driver’s side. The leather itself is in superb condition, with no rips or tears, and only minimal signs of wear. Across the dashboard and centre console, there are carbon leather trim panels, which remain in great shape.

Factory-fitted equipment includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel with BMW M Sport tri-colour stitching, climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and the BMW Professional media system with satellite navigation and a six-disc CD changer.

Opening the bonnet reveals a clean and tidy engine bay, and most notably an upgrade to the CSL-style carbon-fibre airbox made by Karbonius Composites. The other modifications over standard specification include Evolve Automotive’s Alpha N ECU remap, and uprated Bilstein B12 suspension with a lower ride height. The car has been very well maintained from new and had the important running-in service carried out at 1,187 miles in April 2008.

Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out in January 2020 at marque specialist BMR Performance in West Sussex. Across two separate visits, the power steering system was renewed, along with fresh hoses, and the VANOS unit was completely rebuilt with and modified to ensure long-lasting performance and reliability. A new cam cover gasket was fitted, and the Karbonius airbox and associated parts were installed at the same time. All invoices are included with the history file.

In October 2019 at 88,144 miles, it had a full engine oil service at Norwich Sports and Classics, and the brake fluid was also renewed. Earlier that year, the same company installed the new Bilstein suspension, along with new top mounts and bushes, and fitted a replacement air-conditioning condenser. The brake discs and pads were last replaced at 81,227 miles, and the car had a full cylinder head rebuild in July 2017 at 77,427 miles.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 22 October 2019 at 88,124 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. Throughout its life, the car has not had even a single advisory regarding wear or faults. The only notations have been MOT testers referring to the presence of factory-fitted undertrays.

The alloy wheels are shod in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres, in size 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 265/30 ZR19 at the rear. They were fitted in December 2019 at 88,402 miles, so have covered only 2,500 miles since then, and remain in superb condition with plenty of tread.

Accompanying the car is the original leather pouch containing the owner’s handbook, user guides and the stamped maintenance record. Two sets of keys are also present.

The BMW Z4 M Coupe is a terrific driver’s car, and this example has been tastefully enhanced over the 12 months with the addition of uprated suspension and larger CSL wheels. In recent years in particular, it has been meticulously maintained with no expense spared, and is now presented in superb condition. This is a coveted modern classic that is certain to delight its next owner.
