2008 BMW (E82) 135i M SPORT COUPE - MANUAL

This BMW 135i M Sport is a well-presented and well-maintained example of an exciting rear-wheel-drive performance car. Under the bonnet is a twin-turbocharged N54 six-cylinder engine, producing 302bhp and 295lb-ft of torque, married to an involving six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads 71,190 miles.

First registered on 25 April 2008, this 135i M Sport has been owned by the current vendor, a BMW enthusiast, for the past four years. The vendor states that this ‘pint-sized M3’ has been used sparingly during this time, with his four-door M3 proving more practical for daily family transport.

Presented in Le Mans Blue metallic, the BMW has a glossy and smooth finish throughout. The paint is believed original to the car, and the only real blemishes of note are the presence of a light car park ding on the passenger side. This car has no external badging, so the subtle boot spoiler, larger brake callipers and twin rear exhausts are the only clues to the performance on offer, making the 135i something of a Q-car. It rides on the original BMW ‘Style 261’ alloy wheels, which are in good condition, showing only minor marks and some bubbling in the paint.

Inside, the BMW’s half-leather upholstery is in good condition, with only the driver’s bolster showing signs of wear. The leather steering wheel is free of damage, while the upgraded BMW Performance gear knob is likewise in good condition. This example also features dual-zone climate control, an MP3-enabled CD changer and cruise control among the specification highlights – with the vendor noting that all electrical accessories are in full working order.

The BMW was most recently inspected in November 2020 by BMW Reading at 71,125 miles. This entailed a vehicle health check as well as completion of a recall campaign. It received new brake discs and pads in 2017, and all of the injectors and the high-pressure fuel pump were replaced in 2016.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 October 2020 at 70,890 miles. This was a first-time pass with zero advisories. Riding on a mix of Centara and Yokohama tyres, these are reported to be in good order with ample tread remaining.

This BMW 135i is an excellent example of the marque’s compact performance coupe. Boasting a tractable twin-turbo engine, M Sport chassis tuning, and the typically robust BMW build quality of its era, this should prove to be a reliable and involving daily driver, or it could simply be kept to savour on occasional weekend blasts.
