2007 PORSCHE 911 (997) GT3 CLUBSPORT

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 Clubsport is a superb example of one of the great 911s, specified with desirable factory options, and presented in excellent condition following a major service in November 2020. It is powered by the remarkable 3.6-litre M97.76 flat-six, which revs to 8400rpm and produces 409bhp, with rear-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 39,764 miles from new, and it has just been granted a 12-month Porsche extended warranty.

Ordered in the classic colour scheme of GT Silver with a black Alcantara interior, this car was specified with the factory Clubsport package with lightweight bucket seats, 19-inch GT3 alloys, and coloured Porsche crests on the wheel caps. It also has bi-xenon headlights, cruise control, PCM with the sound package and CD changer, silver grey seat belts, floor mats, and with the rear section of the centre console painted in the body colour.

An original UK market car, this GT3 was supplied by Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield in March 2007. The seller acquired this car in a Collecting Cars auction in June 2020, and has since covered around 2,400 miles in it over the last five months. He is now offering it for sale to make space for other cars that have joined his collection, and has consequently treated it to a major service at Porsche Centre Reading, with a 111-point inspection to grant the extended warranty – at a total cost of £5,788.

The bodywork remains in superb order all around the car, with flush shut lines and consistent panel gaps. There is no sign of any accident damage, and the GT Silver paint appears to be all original. It was fitted with paint protection film to the front section from new, in addition to the standard film ahead of the rear wheel arches, and overall the finish is in very good condition for its age and mileage. There are some stone chips around the front and flanks, but the front splitter has just been replaced, so is in excellent condition. Its original 19-inch alloy wheels have some small scuffs around the rims, and a few chips in the silver paint, all of which are visible in the photo gallery.

In the cabin, the lightweight bucket seats are upholstered in Nomex fabric, and are accented by red six-point Schroth harnesses. Black leather trim extends across the dashboard, around the communications and HVAC controls, and on the door panels. Elsewhere, Alcantara is used for the steering wheel trim, gear knob and handbrake lever, as well as the door cards, central and side armrests, and the headlining. There is slight wear to the steering wheel, and a very small hole in the Nomex on the right-hand side of the driver’s seat, but generally the interior trim is in great shape throughout. It also comes with a pair of tailored luggage bags for the front boot, as pictured.

It is fresh from a major service carried out at Porsche Centre Reading at 39,746 miles on 5 November 2020. This comprised new engine oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, and brake fluid. The spark plugs were also replaced, along with the front brake discs and pads. Its air bags, engine mounts and suspension and running gear was all inspection, a new battery was fitted, and the front splitter was replaced. A 12-month extended warranty was then applied, which therefore runs until November 2021. A full summary of the service history is included below.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 October 2019 at 36,480 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. It will be handed over to the next owner with a fresh 12-month MOT certificate. The wheels are shod in Porsche N-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which are date-coded to 2017 and remain in very good condition.

Accompanying the car is the original black book pouch, housing the driver’s manual, stamped guarantee and maintenance record, dealer directory, PCM user guide, and other dealer literature.

Driving the 997 GT3 at launch, Evo magazine’s John Barker heaped praise on the model, stating: “On a dry road the grip is astonishing, yet that’s just a part of the experience. Beneath you is one of the finest 911 chassis yet, one that engages and challenges”. He concluded by calling the GT3 “one of the best drivers’ 911s ever – fantastically tactile, irresistibly engaging and fitted with one of the most thrilling flat-sixes Porsche has ever built”.

This Porsche 997.1 GT3 Clubsport is a sensational driver’s car, which has just received a major service and which is now under Porsche extended warranty cover. Equally at home on the road or the track, its remarkable powertrain and chassis is supported by impressive reliability and usability. With standard PASM, as well as air-conditioning, cruise control, and the tailored luggage bags, this 911 makes a surprisingly practical car for longer-distance touring, while its chassis and engine of course mean that it is a joy to relish on the best roads along the way.
