2006 PORSCHE 911 (997.1) GT3

This Porsche 911 GT3 is a smart example of the 997.1-generation track-oriented sports car, presented in a distinguished factory colour scheme and fitted with a number of desirable factory options. Under the engine lid is the sensational 3.6-litre M97.76 flat-six, which delivers 409bhp at 7,600rpm and drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, allowing the car to sprint from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds, and on to a top speed of 192mph. The odometer shows 60,668 miles from new.

First registered on 2 November 2006, this GT3 is an original UK-market car, and was specified from the factory with PCCB ceramic brakes, cruise control, bi-xenon lighting and heated seats. There are six previous registered keepers on the log book, and the most recent private owner acquired it in June 2019.

Overall, the bodywork presents very well, and the vendor states that there are no signs of previous damage or repair to its panels. The Meteor Grey paintwork is described as being in good condition, and while the seller believes that some areas may have been resprayed in recent years, this has been done to a high standard. There are some light surface scratches and small stone chips on the front end, as well as some scrapes to the surface of the front splitter, but this is commensurate with the car’s road use and mileage, as well as its tarmac-hugging stance.

All of the exterior trim presents well and the light lenses are bright and free of any chips or cracks, which is also true of the top-tinted windscreen. This GT3 rides on its original 19-inch alloys with anthracite faces and silver rims, which are in very good condition, save for some small kerb scratches on the edge of the nearside rear wheel. Providing a vibrant contrast to the car’s paintwork, the yellow brake callipers also signify that it is fitted with Porsche’s optional PCCB ceramic composite brake discs, which provide improved performance and reduced fade.

On stepping into the cabin of this 997.1 GT3, its dual-purpose nature becomes apparent. While the GT3 moniker is associated with outright performance, this example has been specified with a number of comfort-enhancing features. Clad in black leather with Alcantara centres, the heated seats are in good order, and while their leather bolsters are creased, the padding beneath remains full and supportive.

Alcantara also covers the inner door cards, gear knob, handbrake lever and steering wheel and has held up well over the years, although there is some wear to the edges of the steering wheel. The carpeting is also in very good condition and is protected by Porsche-branded floor mats. Contrasting with the black trim, the Speed Yellow seatbelts provide an eye-catching accent, with the optional Meteor Grey transmission tunnel reflecting the body colour.

All of the other trim is in good condition; however the black coating on the air-conditioning fan speed and temperature control switches is flaking away and would benefit from touching in in due course. The vendor also notes that there is a flaw in the air-conditioning display screen, and the bonnet release switch is missing – though this is a readily available component and straightforward to replace. The interior buttons and controls are otherwise in good working order.

This 997.1 GT3’s last scheduled maintenance was carried out in November 2017 at 54,599 miles, when Furlonger Specialist Cars performed an oil service, fitted a new clutch and flywheel, and replaced the rear main oil seal.

Prior to this, Porsche specialist Paragon Porsche carried out a major service including spark plug replacement in November 2016 at 53,464 miles, and a minor service in September 2015 at 51,579 miles. Paragon was also responsible for installing Öhlins POZ MN04 suspension with adjustable dampers, which sits slightly lower than the standard setup.

The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 4 September 2020 at an indicated 60,663 miles, when it received a first-time pass with an advisory for worn windscreen wipers, and with the tester noting the presence of factory-fitted undertrays. All four wheels are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, with the seller stating that the rear items were replaced very recently, and the fronts are described as being in good condition.

Accompanying this 997.1 GT3 are its original handbooks including the stamped maintenance booklet, operating manual, GT3 drivers manual and PCM booklet. A number of past invoices will also be included, as well as the car’s original sales invoice, which details its factory options.

Described by Evo Magazine as “one of the best drivers’ 911s ever” the 997-generation GT3 is a stunning modern sports car. This particular example is in very good condition, specified with carbon-ceramic brakes to enhance stopping performance as well as a comfort-oriented cabin that makes it a great choice for longer-distance touring. Whether you are seeking a 997 GT3 to enjoy on the road or the track, this should prove to be a great buy for its next owner.
