2007 BMW (E92) M3

This BMW (E92) M3 is a well-cared-for example of the marque’s famed performance coupe, presented in a handsome colour scheme and with some subtle modifications. Under the bonnet is the famed, naturally aspirated S65 4.0-litre V8 engine, driven by a six-speed manual transmission — which saw the E92 featured in a list of Evo magazine’s best V8 cars, as it produces 414bhp at 8,300rpm. The odometer shows 73,400 miles from new.

First registered on 7 September 2007, this E92 M3 is now being offered for sale by its current owner, who acquired the car two years ago and has enjoyed some 10,000 miles behind the wheel in that time.

Today, the bodywork remains in excellent condition, with consistent panel gaps and no panel damage. Enhancing the car’s already sporty looks are an original BMW carbon fibre rear spoiler, taillights from a later facelifted model, and carbon fibre corners on the front bumper. The striking Melbourne Red metallic paint is in very good order with only a handful of marks, including small scratches on the rear bumper and front passenger-side carbon fibre bumper corner, which is also showing signs of lacquer peel, commensurate with the car’s age and road use. The seller has also had both the bonnet and front bumper resprayed, eliminating any stone chips they may have picked up over the years.

The car rides on a set of aftermarket Avant Garde M359 19-inch alloy wheels, which are in great shape, and have been fitted with original BMW centre caps and the smaller accompanying ‘M’ badge. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres are in nearly new condition, having covered only a few hundred miles since they were fitted.

In the cabin, this E92 M3’s Novillo Black leather presents very well, with only small amounts of wear present. The optional heated front seats are in very good order and are only showing the usual wear on their outer bolsters. There is also a small amount of scuffing to the plastic by the driver’s seat controls, and the seller notes some small marks on the internal door handles, as is common in daily-driver examples. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is in fantastic condition, having been previously retrimmed, and the seller has also fitted a Clubsport gear knob and gaiter, bringing an individual touch to the interior of this M3.

From the factory, it was also fitted with Electronic Damper Control, Park Distance Control, an electric folding mirror, rain sensors, automatic adaptive headlights, DAB radio and the BMW Professional stereo. All of the car’s buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault.

Mechanically, it is in very good order, with the engine having been rebuilt in 2019 by BMW specialists New Lodge Motors following a rod bearing failure, which is a common issue with the S65 V8 engine. ACL high performance bearings were used in the rebuild, with the invoice for the work done included in the car’s history file. The seller also notes that both throttle actuators were rebuilt in October 2018. A number of performance-enhancing parts have also been fitted, including Performance Friction front brake discs and Pagid RS19 pads, braided brake lines, a decatted exhaust and Eibach lowering springs with shaved top mounts and e36 BMW bump stops, which are reputed to replicate the suspension characteristics of the Competition Pack M3.

Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out on 23 July 2019 at 71,543 miles by BMW specialist RD Automotive. This was a general service that included an oil and filter change, plus the replacement of the front brake pads and brake fluid. Prior to this, the engine oil and filter were changed on 17 March at 68,202 miles, and it received another oil service on 16 September 2018 at 64,982 miles, when the front and rear brakes and fluid, micro filter, air cleaner element, spark plugs and mobility system were all attended to. The car’s most recent MOT test was carried out on 9 March 2020 at 73,205 miles, which it passed first time with no advisories.

Accompanying this E92 M3 are its original BMW document folder, handbook and literature, plus most previous service schedules, MOT certificates and a comprehensive folder of paperwork, including past invoices. The seller is also providing the car’s two keys, locking wheel nut and first aid kit.

This BMW M3 is a great example of the E92 model, which is presented in fantastic condition throughout and features a few tasteful aesthetic and performance enhancements. Finished in striking Melbourne Red metallic, it stands out from the monotone crowd and often receives positive comments from onlookers, according to the seller. Powered by the desirable high-revving S65 V8 engine and fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, it is a much sought-after driver’s car and is on the way to becoming a true modern classic.
