This 997-generation Porsche 911 Turbo is a highly original and well-specified example, finished in a timeless black-on-black colour scheme. Under the rear engine cover is a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six producing 480bhp and 457lb-ft of torque, married to a six-speed manual gearbox marshalling power to all four wheels. The odometer reads 80,559 miles.

Initially registered on 29 September 2006, this Turbo is an original UK-market car. The current vendor purchased the car earlier this year, but is now offering it for sale to acquire something more practical.

Finished in Basalt Black metallic, this 911 is believed to retain its original bodywork and paint, with the exception of the front and rear bumpers that have been resprayed to rectify common minor chips and scuffs. The vendor reports some stone chips and minor scratches on the bonnet, three very small dents on the nearside rear wheel arch, and some marks to the paint protection film in front of it. There are also some scuffs on the front splitter. This 911 retains its model-specific 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which are free of kerbing marks and show only minor delamination on the centre caps.

This example was well-specified from the factory, with the Sport Chrono package, sunroof, and Bose sound system. The black leather upholstery is in good order considering the age and mileage, with some noticeable scuffs and scratches on the driver’s side outer bolster in particular, but no unsightly damage. There are also a handful of indentations on the glovebox and door panel, but otherwise the extended leather in this example is in good condition. There is wear around the gear knob and handbrake grip, and the black coating on the temperature and fan speed switches has deteriorated. The vendor notes that the tyre pressure monitoring light is intermittently illuminated – which may be a sensor fault – but there are no other warning lights on.

The most recent service was carried out by Porsche Centre Brooklands in June 2019 at 75,538 miles. This was a major service, including renewal of the brake fluid. In July 2017, a minor service was carried out, which also saw the drive belt and all six spark plugs replaced, again carried out by Porsche Centre Brooklands. A full summary of the service history is below.

The most recent MOT test was on 18 March 2020 at 77,442 miles. This was a first-time pass, with advisories for the TPMS warning light as noted above, and for wear on the inner edge of the nearside front tyre. The wheels are now shod in Pirelli P Zero tyres all round, with approximately 6mm of tread at the front and 3mm at the rear.

This Porsche 997 Turbo is an immensely capable GT car, refined and versatile enough to use as a daily driver, and exciting enough to make it a great road trip companion. Having been well-maintained over its life so far, this is a smart example of the breed that is ready to thrill and delight its next owner.
