2006 PORSCHE 911 (997) CARRERA S CABRIOLET

This Porsche 997.1 Carrera S Cabriolet is a hugely capable 911, just as impressive as a daily driver as it is a sports car, and comes with a comprehensive maintenance history. Under the engine lid is a 355bhp 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, driven through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 51,876 miles.

First registered on 25 April 2006, this Carrera S has just three previous keepers on the log book, and the most recent private owner acquired the car in June 2017. It is now offered for sale by the trade. The factory specification includes heated sport seats with Porsche crest headrests, PCM with CD changer, 19-inch ‘Lobster Claw’ alloys, a top-tinted windscreen and rear parking sensors.

Its bodywork and paint is reported to be in excellent condition, with some areas having been refinished in the past. Today, there are some stone chips to the bonnet area, but otherwise it presents in superb order, and the car is original and unmodified. Its black soft top hood was replaced in August 2020 and is still under warranty, so is of course in wonderful condition. The 19-inch alloy wheels look pristine, with no kerbing damage, and the exterior is accented by the red brake callipers.

Inside, the car presents very well for its age, with only modest creasing and signs of use, and some more noticeable wear on the driver’s seat bolster. There is no damage to the leather though, which extends across the dashboard, door caps, and rear quarter panels. The optional sport seats are in excellent condition, and are also heated. In the centre console, the fan speed and temperature show some slight wear, which is very common in 997 models, and there are some small marks on the rear trims where the wind deflector has previously been fitted and removed. There are no reported faults with any of the electrics, and no warning lights.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in June 2020 at 49,374 miles by Dove House Motor Company, when the engine oil and filter were changed, and the car was also given new auxiliary belts, spark plugs and brake fluid. The two previous services were also at Dove House, in April 2019 at 47,081 miles, and in April 2018 at 43,597 miles.

Beyond standard servicing, the car had a new window regulator fitted in July 2020, and all of the window seals were previously replaced in July 2019. The rear engine mounts were also renewed at that time. Both rear toe arms were replaced in April 2018, along with the tandem pump.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 2 November 2020 at 51,772 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with only one advisory regarding the rear tyres being worn on the inner edges. Based on this note, the rear tyres will evidently benefit from replacing soon, though the vendor notes that the front tyres are in very good order with around 5.5mm of tread.

Accompanying the car is an original book pack, two keys, a Porsche car cover and a Porsche battery trickle charger. It has a comprehensive maintenance history from new, which is summarised below.

This Porsche 997 Carrera S Cabriolet is an excellent example of the breed, which the vendor states drives beautifully with no rattles or squeaks. It has evidently been well-maintained, and presents in very good order throughout. An exciting analogue sports car that can happily take up day-to-day duties as well as being a great choice for road trips; this should prove to be a great value modern classic.
