2005 PORSCHE 911 (997) CARRERA 2

KEY FACTS

  • A unique example of the popular modern sports car, which has been extensively modified for improved performance on the road or track.
  • It is powered by a supercharged flat-six, which has been enlarged to 4.0 litres and drives the rear wheels via a five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
  • The car has just two previous keepers, and was acquired by the current and third owner six years ago.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Heavily modified for enhanced performance, the engine features a re-sleeved cylinder block, and now has a 4.0-litre capacity, fitted with upgraded connecting rods, forged race pistons and uprated valve stem oil seals.
  • Perhaps most notably, the previously naturally aspirated engine is now fed by a supercharger, with intake temperatures being managed by a charge cooler.
  • Stopping power is provided by a set of front and rear Brembo brake callipers and discs, while the coolant hoses, gaskets, seals and water pump have all been replaced for added peace of mind.
  • Externally, this 997’s looks have been transformed with the addition of a GT Street body kit, which includes more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a louvred bonnet and a towering rear wing.
  • This 911 originally left the factory finished in silver, but the paintwork is now covered in a satin black vinyl wrap with yellow accents, and the bonnet, door mirror caps, side air intakes and rear wing are finished in dark grey metallic.
  • Any potential buyers may wish to note that DVLA currently lists the body colour as Yellow (from a previous customisation) and the engine capacity is noted as 3.6 litres, which will need to be updated, though this is a straightforward process.
  • It rides on a set of larger 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, which feature satin black spokes and polished rims, and are in great shape.
  • Inside, the rear seats have been removed and a half roll-cage has been fitted in their place. The front seats have been replaced with heavily bolstered GT3 style items with yellow DesignTek harnesses, and the transmission tunnel has been refinished in a vibrant yellow hue.
  • The car will be accompanied by its handbook, documentation of its service history, its factory jack and receipts for its numerous modifications.

CONDITION

  • No known bodywork damage.
  • The satin black wrap and metallic finish are in good shape, with a few minor stone chips on the bumpers and the driver’s door handle, though the condition of the paintwork beneath is unknown.
  • The interior is in very good order, with some minor scuffs and scratches on the leather handbrake grip, the door pulls and the black plastic trim surrounding the automatic gear selector.
  • The surfaces of the infotainment system dials have become somewhat ‘sticky’, which is a common 997 foible.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test was conducted on 27 November 2020 at 87,450 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SUMMARY

Equipped with a supercharger, a bored-out 4.0-litre flat-six and a host of other performance and cosmetic modifications, this Porsche 997 Carrera 2 is an eye-catching, one-of-a-kind sports car. Built with the circuit in mind while remaining road legal, this potent 911 should make a thrilling track day participant, but should prove to be equally rousing on its next owner’s favourite roads.
