2004 PORSCHE (986) BOXSTER 2.7 - MANUAL

This 2004 Porsche (986) Boxster is an exciting analogue sports car, which has been enjoyed as intended but kept in excellent mechanical order. It is equipped with the 2.7-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 225bhp, driving the rear wheels via the desirable five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 99,880 miles from new.

First registered in March 2004, this Boxster has been with its current keeper for nearly five years, and with five previous keepers on the V5C.

The bodywork of this 986 all appears to be in good shape, and though the Atlas Grey Metallic paintwork has a number of blemishes, they are largely commensurate with the age and mileage. The vendor indicates the front bumper and bonnet have sustained some stone chips, while each rear wheel arch has a very small ding. There is some paint damage on both the front and rear bumpers; the latter also having a scuff on the nearside. One the rear lights has a small crack, and there is also a chip low down on the passenger side of the windscreen.

The soft top roof has suffered some slight discolouration, but appears to fit very well. It rides on the original 17-inch alloy wheels, which present in good order, with only a few minor chips and no kerbing damage.

Inside, the black leather seats are in very smart condition, presenting with just a few light creases and signs of use. The vendor indicates there are some slight markings on the interior plastics and that some heater matrix fluid has previously leaked into the passenger footwell, which now shows a residual stain. The original stereo remains present and correct, while no electrical issues have been detected, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. It is also equipped with a Parrot hands-free kit and hard-wired iPhone Lightning connector.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in March 2020 at 98,222 miles, where technicians at Porsche specialist Two Plus Two in Brierley Hill carried out a minor service, also changing the brake and clutch fluid. Prior to this, Two Plus Two carried out a major service and brake fluid change in October 2017 at 87,500 miles, and an oil change in January 2017 at 85,374 miles. The vendor indicates that significant mechanical maintenance has been carried out over the last few years, including the fitment of a new clutch, flywheel, gear shift linkage, water pump, Bosch battery, ignition switch, electric window kit, and new brake discs and pads. The vehicle also features a new Dansk sports exhaust.

The most recent MOT test was on 20 October 2020 at 99,659 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. Its air-conditioning system was also re-gassed during this workshop visit. The wheels come wrapped with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres. The two front tyres were fitted in May 2016 at 81,411 miles, while the rears were fitted in April 2019 at 93,890 miles.

Accompanying the vehicle are its service book and a selection of maintenance invoices dating back to 2016. The car comes with one key.

This Porsche (986) Boxster 2.7 is an exciting analogue sports car with the desirable manual gearbox, which has some cosmetic blemishes but remains in impressive mechanical condition. With a clean MOT and notable recent maintenance under its belt, this Boxster should prove to be a reliable and thoroughly enjoyable example of the breed.
