2004 PORSCHE 911 (996.2) GT3

This Porsche 911 GT3 is an original and unmodified example of the track-oriented 996.2 model, finished in a superb factory colour and with low mileage. Under the engine lid is a 3.6-litre ‘Mezger’ flat-six, producing up to 375bhp and 284lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads 33,600 miles.

First registered on 25 November 2004, this GT3 is an original UK-market car, with three previous registered keepers on the log book. It is being offered for sale by the motor trade, having been with the previous owner for seven years.

As well as visual changes to the front and rear lights and bumpers, the design of the side skirts and rear spoiler were also revised for the 996.2 facelift. Six-piston brake callipers feature on the front axle, with this particular car equipped with the powerful carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Presenting in metallic Cobalt Blue, this 911 is in good condition for its age, showing just the typical signs of road use with some stone chips to the front end and on the lower sections of the wheel arches, as well as some scuffs under the front bumper. The vendor notes that the bonnet has been repainted in the past, though not to a perfect standard and with a mismatch in the colour of the finish – so this would benefit from attention in the future.

Overall though, this is a very well-presented car, with body panels that look straight and smooth, and light lenses that are clear and bright. The paintwork has also been treated to a full detailing session within the last year. It rides on the correct 18-inch GT3 alloy wheels, which remain in excellent order with no kerbing marks.

The 911’s cabin is a blend of sporting intent and comfort, featuring the electrically adjustable sport seats that make it a more usable choice for long-distance touring. The black leather upholstery is in superb order, with only signs of use and light wear commensurate with the mileage, and no damage or discolouration. The steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake all appear to be original and in good condition, with the latter two accented by aluminium inlays.

This car’s transmission tunnel is colour-coded in Cobalt Blue, with a blue accent strip across the dashboard and blue-backed instrument dials. This example is also equipped with its original Porsche CDR-23 stereo system, as well as automatic air-conditioning. The vendor reports no electrical faults or warning lights.

This GT3 was last serviced in July 2019 at 32,966 miles by marque specialist Eporsch in Surrey. The work included an oil change service, and two months later both lower control arms, track arms and support arms were replaced as well.

Prior to this, the 911 was serviced in June 2017 at 31,296 miles by Porsche Centre Brooklands, which was a major service with replacement spark plugs; and in March 2015 at 28,284 miles by Porsche Centre Byfleet, which was a minor service.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 October 2020 at 33,548 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass. Advisories were noted for wear to the front brake discs and low tread on the outer edge of the nearside front tyre. The wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres on all four corners, which have around 4mm of tread on the front axle and 7mm at the rear.

This Porsche 996.2 GT3 is a low mileage yet usable example of the marque’s pared-back and purist 911. Benefitting from a comprehensive maintenance history, it combines reliable performance with an appealing colour scheme, and would make a fine addition to any collection, ready for its next owner to relish on the road or track.
