2004 BMW (E46) M3 CONVERTIBLE INDIVIDUAL - MANUAL

This 2004 BMW (E46) M3 Convertible is a superb example of the open-top performance hero, which has been subject to a full restoration and is finished with a striking BMW Individual Phoenix Yellow / Kiwi Yellow colour scheme. Under the bonnet sits the 338bhp 3.2-litre S54 straight-six, coupled with the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 83,000 miles from new.

First registered in June 2004, this M3 was sold to its fifth long term registered keeper by a friend of the current owner. The car was used by him as a regular commuter car on a largely dual carriageway run, but was inherited by his wife when he passed away. The M3 was subsequently transferred to their son, and more recently to the current keeper last year. The vendor is a passionate enthusiast known to Collecting Cars, who is offering the BMW from his private collection, and who has used the platform several times in the past.

The M3 has since undergone a full cosmetic refurbishment, including a respray, paint protection treatment, Waxoyl chassis coating, and wheel restoration. Some £5,800 was spent on this work and more by the vendor in July 2020 with acclaimed vehicle restoration specialist Sprayed by Robbo in Bolton.

The bodywork is all in excellent shape, and it is finished in the marque’s striking Individual launch colour of Phoenix Yellow metallic hue. It has benefited from a body restoration and a respray of the bonnet, front wings, and bumpers, to remove stone chips and light scuffs. The paint is reported to be flawless save for a couple of very small marks which can be seen on the door handles under close inspection. The paintwork has been treated to a Titan ceramic coating, and the roof has also received a protective Fabsil Gold treatment.

The soft-top roof appears to be in good working order, presenting with just a couple of light surface creases, while the vehicle rides on a set of refurbished 19-inch twin-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, which remain pristine. The latter were done by the leading UK specialist Rader International at their head office site in the Manchester.

Inside, the Kiwi Yellow Nappa leather presents with some wear on the driver’s seat outer bolster, but only minimal creasing and signs of use elsewhere, thanks to re-connolising as part of the work at Sprayed by Robbo. The leather-clad door cards are in good shape, and the dark walnut burr which continues through the dashboard is free of any noticeable scuffs. Some small scratches can be seen between the gear knob and the dashboard, though the main contact points present well, and all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in July 2020 at 81,342 miles at Sprayed by Robbo, which included fresh brake fluid as well as new Millers oils for the engine, gearbox and differential as part of a BMW Inspection II service. The brake callipers were also fully stripped down and rebuilt with new seals and new pads, and they were also repainted.

The most recent MOT test was in February 2021, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories, while the tyres are reported to be in excellent condition. Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbooks and service book, along with the full toolkit.

This BMW M3 (E46) Convertible is a superb example of the marque’s beloved performance car, which has undergone notable refurbishment and is presented in a striking BMW Individual colour scheme. Equipped with the desirable manual gearbox, this M3 would be ideal for sunny weekend cruises and twisty B-roads alike.
