This 996-generation 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo is a thrilling millennium-era supercar, with low mileage from new and boasting a number of performance upgrades. Under the rear engine cover is the 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six, which has been tuned to produce 550bhp and drives all four wheels via an engaging six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays just 30,986 miles.

First registered in May 2003, this original UK-market C16-code 996 Turbo was ordered in the demure hue of Arctic Silver metallic over a black leather interior, and is equipped with an electric sunroof, a premium Bose sound system and the sought-after ‘X50’ package, which increased the engine’s output from 420hp to 450hp thanks to different turbochargers, intercoolers, a tuned ECU and a reinforced gearbox.

Now offered for sale by the trade, the car was enjoyed by its last keeper – only the fourth owner from new – from 2007 until earlier this year, and has previously been enhanced with the addition of a further power upgrade and various suspension components from Techart.

Today, the bodywork remains in very good shape, with straight, even shut lines no evidence of any prior accident damage; however, there is a small dent on the offside rear quarter panel. The car is now equipped with an aerodynamic body kit, with a deeper front splitter and a large rear wing. The side skirts have been repainted in silver.

The Arctic Silver metallic paintwork is described by the vendor as being in fair condition, with stone chips on the nose and flaking on the rear bumper. The car rides on a set of 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, which are styled after the Speedline items fitted to the 993-generation GT2 and are in good shape, with some slight lacquer damage on their polished rims but no scuffs or scrapes to speak of.

Stepping inside, the cabin is fully upholstered in black leather, and presents in fair order for the car’s age. Both of the seats feature some general age-related creases to their surfaces, and there is a hole in the trim on the driver’s seat’s inner side bolster, as well as some very small nicks on the passenger-side of the central armrest. As an added racy touch, this Turbo’s interior is laden with carbon-fibre trim, including the door pulls, the upper and lower centre console surrounds, door entry guards, air vent surrounds, instrument binnacle and the key barrel and hazard light surrounds. Furthermore, the upper and lower sections of the steering wheel rim are also in carbon-fibre, as are the gear knob and handbrake lever. While the passenger-side electric mirror adjuster is not functioning, all of the other buttons, switches, and electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This Porsche’s most recent routine maintenance was a minor service and brake fluid change, which was carried out in October 2020 at 30,567 miles by Porsche Centre Silverstone. Prior to this, the same dealer serviced the car in August 2019 at 30,187 miles, and in July 2018 at 29,839 miles.

Although the standard 996 Turbo is no slouch in the performance department, this example has been enhanced by a Techart power upgrade, which boosts its output to a truly impressive 550bhp. In addition, its already sharp handling has also been honed by the addition of a number of Techart suspension components, including adjustable dampers, anti-roll bars, and suspension legs, as well as a set of Eibach lowering springs.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 9 January 2021 at 30,668 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with an advisory for some corrosion to the car’s underside components. All four wheels are shod in Continental SportContact 6 tyres, which were fitted in May 2020 and have around 7mm of tread remaining.

The car will be accompanied by its leather document wallet, which contains its owner’s manual, various reference guides, and a replacement service book which details its maintenance as far back as 2008 – all of which has been carried out by Porsche Centre Silverstone. The online MOT history also provides a comprehensive record of the low mileage from new.

This Porsche 996 Turbo is an electrifying high-performance coupe, presented in good overall condition and producing 550bhp courtesy of a Techart power upgrade. Nonetheless, this 996 Turbo retains the everyday usability that makes the model so enticing, and will be a thrilling daily driver, weekend plaything or cross-continental tourer for any enthusiast.
