2003 PORSCHE 911 (996) GT2

KEY FACTS

  • A well-presented, low-mileage example of rare and fearsome performance car, benefitting from an extensive refurbishment and a not inconsiderable power upgrade.
  • Under the engine lid is the enhanced 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, now delivering 533bhp to the rear wheels through an engaging six-speed manual transmission.
  • The odometer displays a very reasonable 39,599 miles from new.
  • This GT2 has recently been subject to a thorough ground-up refurbishment at a total cost of approximately £16,000.
  • The car is offered with an extensive main dealer and specialist service history, and has never been used on track.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Finished in Lapis Blue over an all-black leather-trimmed cabin, the car rides on its original 18-inch ‘Turbo Twist’ alloys with Porsche-crested centre caps, housing yellow brake callipers and shod all round with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
  • It is equipped with the Porsche Comfort Package, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a Porsche CD player, as well as body-coloured seat backs.
  • The car comes with its original book pack, stamped service book, MOT test certificates, car cover, two keys, and a raft of documents detailing its history.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage. The owner believes that the bumper and sills were resprayed by a previous owner.
  • The Lapis Blue paintwork is in excellent overall condition, presenting with a rich shine and no significant stone chips or blemishes.
  • Moving inside, the original black leather-trimmed cabin presents well, with some creasing and small indentations on the leather seats, a couple of small scuffs on the dashboard and centre console, and some modest wear and signs of use on the main touchpoints, in line with the vehicle’s age and mileage.
  • There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test was conducted on 9 June 2020 at 39,450 miles, when the car passed first time with an advisory for slight corrosion to the ferrule in the offside front brake hose. A replacement has since been fitted.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • This 996-generation GT2 was last serviced in March 2021 by Porsche specialist Ninemeister at 39,599 miles. A full mechanical refurbishment was also performed, including the removal of the suspension, engine, seized scavenge pipes, suspension arms, gearbox and intake system, as well as all of the chassis components, which were removed for powder coating.
  • Replacements were fitted for the main brake pipes, front and side brake pipes and clutch, as well as a new air-conditioning condenser, brake calliper nipples, turbo sumps, shock absorbers, ABS sensor, brake lines, release bearing, wheel bearing, lower arm inner mounts, turbo oil catch tanks and track control arms. All corrosion and seized bolts were corrected, the suspension was rebuilt, all components were cleaned, waxed and refitted, and the wheels were aligned.
  • Prior to this, Porsche specialist DW Performance refurbished both turbos and the alternator in June 2019, and Porsche Leicester performed a major service in September 2018 at 39,369 miles.

SUMMARY

This 996-generation Porsche 911 GT2 is a tastefully specified, well-kept and very low-mileage example of the limited-run performance car. Benefitting from a full body-off refurbishment and impressive power upgrade, this lesser-seen model would be a natural addition to any collection of modern classics, but would perhaps be best enjoyed from behind the wheel, where its next owner can experience its pin-sharp handling and riotous 533bhp flat-six for themselves.
