2002 PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 4S

KEY FACTS

  • A fantastic all-rounder, presented in good order throughout, and fresh from a recent major service.
  • It is powered by a 315bhp 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, coupled to a five-speed Tiptronic transmission.
  • The car has been upgraded with Ohlins suspension, the latest PCCM+ media system, and paddle shift for the transmission.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • The Carrera 4S is equipped with numerous parts from the 911 Turbo, including the wide body and front bumper, brakes, and suspension.
  • This car’s standard suspension has been replaced with a bespoke Ohlins setup, while the Tiptronic transmission can now be operated using a paddle shift system.
  • The original Porsche Sports Exhaust system has been replaced with aftermarket rear boxes which are not switchable, and the rear wheels are equipped with 15mm spacers.
  • Inside, the car left the factory with Arctic Silver trim around the centre console and dashboard. This trim has since been changed to black, but the original items are included.
  • Its standard PCM system has been changed to the latest Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM+), which incorporates DAB digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Factory equipment includes the optional hard-shell sport seats, cruise control, climate control, heated front seats, and Bose sound system.
  • The car comes with all the original handbooks, including guides for the new PCCM+ system, a large service file, and space saver wheel. The vendor believes that all original tools are also still with the car.

CONDITION

  • No known bodywork damage. The bodywork referred to on a recent invoice was to address a small section of corrosion that had arisen on the inside lip of the left rear arch.
  • Overall, its Seal Grey paintwork is described as being in good condition, with paint chips on the bonnet in line with age and mileage, along with a small blemish on the offside rear wheel arch. There is also some minor kerbing on the nearside front wheel, though all four were previously refurbished.
  • In July 2021, Bell Sport & Classic fitted a new front splitter, polished the headlights, and installed the new centre console trim.
  • The black leather upholstery is in good order, with minor creases and slight surface wear to the outer bolsters. The backs of the hard-shell seats are quite heavily scratched and scuffed, as shown in the gallery.
  • There are no known electrical faults. The speedometer was replaced at around 30,000 miles (documented in service book) so the true mileage is just under 90,000 miles.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 7 November 2020 at approximately 88,000 miles (indicated 57,530 miles), which resulted in a first-time pass with only one advisory regarding a faulty rear number plate light.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Its last scheduled maintenance was in April 2021 at Bell Sport & Classic. This comprised a major service, as well as replacement of the propshaft centre coupling, exhaust clamps, auxiliary drive belt, and brake fluid.
  • In July 2021, Bell Sport & Classic also replaced the front Ohlins dampers (which had been subject to a recall), and carried out a geometry setup.
  • Porsche specialist Wrightune carried out a service in July 2020 at around 86,000 miles from new, including renewal of both front CV joint boots.
  • In August 2019, Bell Sport & Classic replaced all brake discs and pads, fitted stainless steel braided brake hoses throughout, and refurbished the front callipers. Various new anti-roll bar links and bushes were fitted, plus new track control arms, steering rack arms, and rod ends, followed by a full alignment session.
  • The IMS bearing was replaced in May 2019 by Portiacraft at approximately 79,000 miles from new.
