2002 PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 4S

This Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S is an excellent example of a desirable modern classic sports car, presented in a high factory specification, and with a recent major service and IMS bearing replacement. It is powered by the 315bhp 3.6-litre flat-six, with four-wheel-drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 106,081 miles from new.

A highly sought-after 911, the 996 Carrera 4S features the Turbo wide body, suspension, brakes and alloy wheels, while the cabin of this example also boasts Alcantara headlining, heated front seats, an electric sunroof and a Bose sound system. First registered in October 2002, this UK-market 911 was exported to the Isle of Man before returning in recent years. It is now offered for sale by the trade.

The bodywork is all in good shape and the condition of the black paintwork has been described as excellent, with the vendor noting the car is completely corrosion-free. Both front wings and sills have been resprayed, along with the rear arches, which now present with a glossy shine. Inside, the heated electric seats are fully trimmed with black leather, which presents with modest wear and surface creasing, but no visible rips or tears. The rear seats show signs of use, but are again in very good condition for their age, and the front seats have the Porsche crest embossed into the headrests. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control and cruise control, while the PCM system has been swapped out to an aftermarket Kenwood touch-screen unit with navigation and smartphone compatibility. The switchgear all works as it should, and there are no known electrical issues.

This 911 benefits from notable recent mechanical work, with the IMS bearing, clutch and flywheel replaced by a Porsche specialist in February 2021, at a total cost of more than £3,100. The last routine servicing prior to this was undertaken in September 2020 at 105,558 miles, where technicians at Lancashire Motor Bodies (MCR) Ltd changed the engine oil, filter, and coolant, before fitting two new front driveshafts, and new exhaust silencers. In May 2019 at 101,523 miles, Project Three Automotive in Manchester changed the engine oil and filter, replaced two CV joint boots, and renewed the rear suspension D-bushes.

The most recent MOT test took place in November 2020, which resulted in a pass with one advisory noting that the rear alloy had been welded, but this wheel has since been replaced. The wheels come wrapped with a set of Porsche-fitment Pirelli P Zero tyres, with a reported 6mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are all of its original handbooks, the stamped service record, two keys, plus a folder full of various maintenance receipts and invoices.
