2002 BMW (E46) M3 - MANUAL

This 2002 BMW (E46) M3 is a renowned performance car, with relatively low mileage and a sleek Carbon Black Metallic finish. Under the bonnet sits the ‘S54’ naturally aspirated 3.2-litre straight-six, which produces 338bhp and drives the rear wheels via the desirable six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 64,344 miles from new.

First registered in March 2002, this M3 has been in the hands of its current keeper for around a year. Factory-fitted equipment includes xenon headlights, rear parking sensors, air-conditioning, cruise control, the BMW Business stereo, and electric memory front seats with bolster width adjustment.

The car’s muscular bodywork is all in good shape, with flush shut lines and smooth panels. It is finished with Carbon Black Metallic paintwork, which presents with some age-related stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet, alongside a small scratch and some minor corrosion on the offside rear wheel arch. A few blemishes are visible on the rear bumper, while the wing mirror stalks feature some common bubbling from a reaction under the paint. The car rides on a set of 19-inch wheels, with a few kerb scratches and some flaking to the centre caps. Overall though, this is a well-presented car, which can be driven and enjoyed without worrying about getting the odd extra chip in the finish.

Inside, the black leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with just some age-related creasing and an attractive patina. A few light marks can be seen in the door cards, though the leather inserts appear to be in good order. Some small scratches can be seen on the sides of the centre console, alongside some slight wear around the driver’s window controls, though all of the key contact points present well. All of the electrics currently work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in 15 December 2020 at 64,187 miles, where technicians at Walker’s Autotech in Billingshurst changed the engine oil, filter, spark plugs and rocker cover gasket, before checking and adjusting the valve clearances. Prior to this, routine servicing was carried out in July 2015 at 54,401 miles by technicians at Autobahn Servicing in Halesowen, and in March 2012 at 41,265 miles, at Sytner BMW.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 July 2020 at 63,589 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The tyres are believed to be in good condition, with at least 7mm of tread remaining all round. Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manuals and service book, alongside the full tool kit.

This BMW M3 is a smart example of the acclaimed sporting coupe, equipped with the desirable manual transmission, and which has been well maintained. Presented in generally very good order, this M3 would make a solid addition to any collection of modern classics.
