2001 BMW ALPINA (E46) B3 3.3 COUPE

KEY FACTS 

• This Alpina B3 3.3 Coupe is a rare modern classic, combining impressive performance with bespoke finishes. 
• Power comes from a 280bhp 3.3-litre straight-six petrol engine that sends its power to the rear wheels via a five-speed Switch-Tronic automatic gearbox.  
• It is believed to be one of just 60 right-hand-drive B3 Coupes delivered to the UK. 

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES  

• The B3 3.3 was created by taking a 3.2-litre S52B32 engine and adding Alpina’s own modifications. A new cylinder head was fitted, along with a new crankshaft and camshafts, upgraded connecting rods and pistons, and a new intake and exhaust manifold.  
• The suspension was also upgraded with stiffer springs and modified dampers, plus 330i brake discs with upgraded pads. 
• This car was specified in Bright Red (Hellrot) with black leather, and rides on the classic Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels. 
• Its specification includes the Alpina body styling kit, as well as bespoke interior trim including green and blue accents for the steering wheel and floor mats, and custom wood inlays. There are heated sport seats with driver memory settings, a rear sun blind, sunroof, climate control and cruise control. 
• Accompanying the car are original handbooks and the leather pouch, plus an extensive service history mainly from main dealers and specialists.  

CONDITION  

• There is no known prior bodywork damage. 
• Both front wings have been replaced and painted, though they are a slightly darker hue to the rest of the bodywork, so could be refinished to a perfect match in the future. The front bumper and splitter have also been repainted, and the car has received a full paint correction treatment. 
• In the cabin, some minor wear is visible on the driver’s seat bolsters, but overall the black leather remains in very good condition for its age and mileage. There is also some cosmetic wear to the steering wheel trim. 
• No electrical faults have been detected. 
• The most recent MOT test was on 18 January 2021 at 114,105 miles, which was a first-time pass with all four tyres noted as being slightly perished as an advisory. A fresh MOT test will be carried out prior to handover to the next owner. 

SERVICE HISTORY  

• Its last maintenance was a full service in July 2021 at 114,744 miles, carried out by Kwik Fit Twickenham. All fluids, filters and spark plugs were renewed, along with a new rocker cover gasket. 
• In June 2020 at 113,567 miles, the car had an oil service and replacement of the air-conditioning belt tensioner. BMW specialist MVT serviced the car in September 2018 with an Inspection 1 maintenance visit and renewal of the micro-filter.

It could be a smart addition to any assembly of modern classics, and even a usable and exciting daily driver.
