2000 PORSCHE (986) BOXSTER S

This 986-generation Porsche Boxster S is a low-mileage example of the popular mid-engined convertible sports car, featuring a rare factory interior colour and presented in smart condition. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six, which produces 252bhp and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer shows just 39,405 miles from new.

First registered on 7 July 2000, this UK-market Boxster S was specified with handsome Arctic Silver paintwork and an extremely rare Nephrite Green leather interior, complete with an optional leather-covered dashboard and door panels with matching carpets.

Its current owner acquired it about four years ago and is now offering the car for sale. Arguably under-appreciated in its time, the 986’s clean, unfussy retro-styling inspired by the 1954 550 is gaining popularity. This example’s bodywork is free of any damage, with smooth panels and even shut lines. The Arctic Silver metallic paintwork has a bright, glossy appearance, but with some blemishes that one would expect on a 20-year-old car.

The black fabric convertible hood is in great shape, with no signs of rips, tears or substantial fading, and fits snugly over its frame. A rare factory hard top is also included, which greatly enhances this Boxster S’ year-round usability.

All of the exterior trim presents well, with the black ‘Boxster S’ script on the tail showing no signs of damage or wear to its surface and the light lenses are clear and free of any yellowing. The seller notes that there is a stone chip on the nearside of the top-tinted windscreen, but this doesn’t have any effect on visibility.

Stainless steel mesh Zunsport front grilles have also been fitted, helping to provide additional protection to radiators, and giving a distinctive look to the nose. The car rides on a set of 17-inch five-spoke ‘Twist’ alloy wheels, which are generally sound but would benefit from refurbishment in due course.

Turning to the interior, this Boxster S makes a refreshing change to the more commonly black or grey leather-trimmed cars, with light Nephrite Green leather covering the seats, dashboard and door panels, as well as the sides of the centre console and the lid of the centre storage compartment.

The heated seats are in very good condition, and again the condition of the interior and upholstery is commensurate with the car’s age. The matching Nephrite Green carpeting is smart and has been protected by black Porsche-branded over mats. Optional equipment includes heated seats, the Porsche CDR-22 Radio/CD player and an automatic air- conditioning system. Aftermarket rear park assist sensors have also been fitted, providing additional reassurance for the driver.

Offered in excellent mechanical condition and never used on track, this 986-generation Boxster S has been almost exclusively tended to by Porsche main dealers, with one service being carried out by a Porsche specialist in 2013. Its last routine maintenance was carried out in March 2019 at 38,898 miles by Porsche Centre Exeter, who replaced the engine oil and filters, with the brake fluid being changed in May 2019.

Prior to this, the car was treated to oil services in March 2017 at Porsche Centre Bournemouth at 32,440 miles and in July 2013 by Porsche specialist La Rose Porsche, Sevenoaks at 29,052 miles. During the seller’s ownership, some general wear-and-tear items have been replaced, including the drive shaft boots and rear brake discs.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 10 March 2020 at 39,288 miles, which it passed first time with only one advisory, which simply noted the factory-fitted undertrays beneath the car. All four wheels are shod in Bridgestone Potenza S-01A tyres, which were fitted in March 2017. The seller notes that the front 205/50 ZR17 items have at least 6.0mm of tread remaining and there is at least 4.5mm of tread on the 255/40 ZR17 rears. These tyres are the correct Porsche N-rated type.

Accompanying the car are its leather Porsche-branded document folder, the original owner’s manual, service book and the manual for the radio. The seller is also including the Porsche hardtop and stand, allowing it to be stored safely during the warmer months and offering extra protection if motorsport is on the agenda.

Serviced exclusively by main dealers and a sole specialist, this low mileage Porsche Boxster S is in fine mechanical health and features only a few minor blemishes to its paintwork and rare Nephrite Green leather interior, which is sure to set it apart from the crowd at any show, meeting or event. Accompanied by its matching Porsche hard top, it will make an excellent addition to any collection, where its engaging handling can be enjoyed come rain or shine.
