This Porsche Boxster S is a collector-quality example of the 986 model, presented in excellent original condition, and with just one private owner from new. Its engine is the 3.2-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, producing 252bhp, coupled to the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 19,453 miles from new, which is fully supported by the comprehensive history.
First registered in September 2000, this Boxster S was specified in the superb factory colour of Zenith Blue, complemented by a black extended leather interior. It was purchased by a gentleman in Caterham, Surrey, who was fastidious about maintenance, despite keeping the mileage very low. The car is now offered by the trade, having acquired it from the first and only registered keeper.
Its bodywork presents in excellent condition, with no dents or damage to the original panels. The Zenith Blue paintwork is smooth and even all around the body, with only a few small stone chips around the front bumper and bonnet noted by the seller. It rides on the original set of 17-inch five-spoke ‘Twist’ alloy wheels, which are pristine.
All of the light lenses are free of cracks and chips, and the window seals and door rubbers are in superb order. It is fitted with a black fabric hood, which presents very well with no wear marks, and fits snugly over the frame. The plastic rear window is also in great shape.
In the cabin, the electrically adjustable seats, along with the dashboard top and door cards, are upholstered in full black leather, which remains in excellent condition with no evident wear, and only signs of light use commensurate with the low mileage. The leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob are both original and in very good order. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, an air deflector, and the Porsche CDR-22 stereo system. Both front and rear boot linings are in great condition, and there is a space-saver spare wheel present with its protective cover, plus the full set of tools, jack and wheel brace.
Meticulously maintained throughout its life, this Boxster S is accompanied by records of 16 services, exclusively at the supplying Porsche main dealer and leading specialist Parr Porsche – with the exception of the annual service in 2009. The last scheduled service was in August 2018 at 19,215 miles, carried out by Parr Porsche in West Sussex. This was a major service that also included renewal of the brake fluid. In 2019, the car had new air-conditioning condensers fitted, followed by a re-gas of the system, and a new set of tyres.
Parr Porsche also saw the car for annual services in August 2017 at 19,127 miles, and in August 2016 at 18,978 miles. The car is presented in excellent mechanical order, and the seller reports that it drives perfectly.
The most recent MOT test was on 19 November 2019 at 19,427 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. In fact, this car has outstanding MOT history from new, and has never failed a test. The wheels are fitted with Porsche N-rated Bridgestone Potenza tyres, in size 205/50 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear. They are date-coded to 2018 and have virtually full tread remaining.
Accompanying the car is the original book pack, including the driver’s manual and stamped maintenance record, as well as a raft of old service receipts, tax discs and MOT certificates. The seller reports that the original order paperwork for the car is also present, with correspondence between the private owner and AFN Porsche.
This Porsche Boxster S is a very low mileage example of a superb mid-engined sports car. It boasts unbeatable provenance with only one private owner over two decades, not to mention an excellent service history record. While this would undoubtedly be a fine addition to any Porsche collection, the next enthusiast owner should not miss out on driving this wonderfully engaging roadster as intended.
