2000 PORSCHE (986) BOXSTER 2.7

KEY FACTS

  • This presentable example of the popular 986 Boxster is a great entry point to modern classic Porsche ownership.
  • Tucked in the middle of the car, is the smooth 2.7-litre flat-six engine driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
  • Complete with a commendable service history, including 12 stamps in the booklet.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Specified in Arctic Silver with the rare option of a silver and black leather interior, this 986 has electric seats, automatic climate-control and the original Porsche stereo.
  • This car sits on upgraded 18-inch Carrera II wheels with a contemporary anthracite finish. The wheels are further enhanced by the red-painted brake callipers that sit behind them.
  • All manufacturing and specification plates are present, as are the factory options and tyre pressure stickers.
  • Car comes complete with original space-saver spare wheel, manuals, service book, Porsche tool kit, two keys and an immobiliser fob.

CONDITION

  • The vendor describes the paintwork of this Boxster as being in good order. There are some chips to the door sills and edges. The front bumper also has some imperfections, and there is light scratching to the lower sections of the rear bumper; none of which significantly detracts from the smart overall appearance. This is largely down to the car being garaged whenever not in use, to the owner’s knowledge.
  • The Kumho tyres on all four corners are in excellent condition, having covered less than 3,000 miles.
  • The headlamps have been cosmetically refurbished to improve their clarity, and the fully functioning soft-top has been given a professional hydrophobic coating.
  • The interior is also described as being in good condition, with some minor wear to the seats. There are signs of use around the ignition key slot and wear to the gear lever surround, but no more so than one would expect of a car of this age and mileage. The seats, carpets and dashboard are free from any tears or holes.
  • There are no known mechanical faults, and all items function correctly, except for the display screen of the stereo head unit – though the radio/CD functions still operate.
  • The most recent MOT test was carried out on 24 February 2021 at 82,652 miles. The only advisory was regarding the shock absorbers which have since been replaced.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The owner replaced the engine oil and oil filter in May 2021 and reported the magnetic sump-plug to be clean, indicating a healthy IMS bearing.
  • The front shock absorbers, mounts and anti-roll bars have also been replaced with Bilstein (OEM) parts.
  • Between 2017 and 2021, the previous keeper is understood to have had two services carried out in two-year intervals, but the last stamp in the book is from 2016 at 74,981 miles.
