2000 PORSCHE 911 (996) TURBO

This 2000 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is a very clean example of the supremely capable German supercar, which has been refinished in Horizon Blue, and benefits from a significant investment in its mechanical condition. It is equipped with a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six engine producing 414bhp, which sends power to all four wheels via the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 88,993 miles from new.

First registered in June 2000, this 911 Turbo has four previous keepers on the log book, and has been with its most recent private owner for the last year. The car is noted as a 2000 model year ‘launch specification car’ with option code 762.

The bodywork of this Porsche presents in good order throughout, and to the best of the owner’s knowledge has never sustained any accident damage. The vehicle initially left the factory with Arctic Silver paintwork, but the previous owner commissioned a full respray in the crisp Horizon Blue hue. Today, it presents with just some minor stone chips to the front bumper and bonnet. The car has also been fitted with a DesignTek exhaust system from front to back. All of the body trims, vents and headlight lenses present well, while the car rides on a set of anthracite 18-inch five-spoke ‘Turbo Twist’ alloy wheels. These appear with minor blemishes, though appear in good general condition.

Moving inside, the cabin is trimmed with black leather, which appears with a slight patina and some age-related creasing, though no damage or heavy discolouration. There are some very light marks to the three-spoke steering wheel, though the contact points remain in good condition, along with the leather-clad dashboard. The vehicle has an aftermarket Clarion infotainment system fitted. All of the electrics work as they should, and while the rear spoiler operates correctly, the spoiler control warning light occasionally illuminates. It is also equipped with a sunroof and tracker device.

The car is fresh from a basic engine oil service, and prior to this – while in the last owner’s care – was subject to a major mechanical overhaul at independent Porsche specialist CavendishPorscha. This consisted of a complete replacement engine and turbochargers from another 996 Turbo with low mileage, as well as a replacement clutch, brakes, coffin arms and upgraded Bilstein adjustable coilovers.

The most recent MOT test was on 5 February 2020 at 88,100 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round in correct fitment 225/40/R18 at the front and 295/30/R18 at the rear, which have been fitted recently during the current ownership.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manual and service book in their factory leather wallet, as well as a corresponding folder of maintenance documentation and two keys. The car was also the cover star of the January 2008 issue of GT Porsche magazine, which is included in the sale, along with the purchase invoice from the previous ownership, and a significant file of bills and receipts.

This Porsche 996 Turbo is a superb example of the renowned year-round supercar, refinished in classic Porsche colour, and with a solid maintenance history. This example has been enjoyed as intended, has had a significant spend by the previous owner on its cosmetic and mechanical condition, and would now make a reliable daily driver or weekend toy for a thrill-seeking enthusiast of Stuttgart’s finest.
