2000 BMW (E39) M5

KEY FACTS

  • This is a superbly presented example of the E39 M5, one of the most desirable ‘super-saloons’ of all time, with a focus on originality.
  • Powered by the S62 4.9-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing 394bhp and delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
  • A very well-appointed and well-maintained M5 with a selection of desirable options.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Finished in Silverstone Metallic with Black Nappa Heritage leather over Bruyere Club wood trim, this car boasts a particularly sophisticated appearance. The rare factory ‘rear spoiler delete’ specification gives it an even more subtle aesthetic.
  • Factory options include the BMW Professional Navigation system with 6CD changer and TV function, BMW Professional speaker system, Climate Comfort windscreen, rear Park Distance Control, heated and electrically adjustable leather seats with three-position memory, M Sport multifunction electrically adjustable steering wheel, and power-folding mirrors.
  • It has been fitted with aftermarket AC Schnitzer pedals.
  • The car comes with the original service book stamped until 2015, service paperwork from 2017 onwards, and a full toolkit in the boot. The owner states that certain items in the toolkit were replaced with original BMW items during his ownership.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • The exterior is in excellent condition, as shown in the gallery below. There are some minor blemishes around the front passenger-side window frame, but overall the paint finish in very impressive.
  • Inside, the Heritage leather is in great shape, with some creasing and natural ageing of the leather, but no heavy wear or discolouration. The interior trims are all in good order, with the exception of a dislodged rear cupholder.
  • The instrument cluster readout has no dead pixels, which is typically a common problem area on these cars.
  • The tyre pressure warning is incorrectly illuminated. The vendor states that an investigation shows the likely issue to be with the sensor on the nearside front wheel.
  • The most recent MOT test was in January 2021 at 90,868 miles, where the car passed second-time after the nearside headlamp aim was adjusted. The advisories registered were that the nearside windscreen washer was partially blocked, the brake pipes and fuel pipes showed some corrosion, and a non-excessive oil leak was noted.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The car was most recently serviced in January 2020 at 89,679 miles by Belgravia Garage where both rear shock absorbers and coil springs were replaced, as well as a temperature sensor and the offside front and nearside rear tyres. The nearside front tyre was replaced in March 2020.
  • Prior to this, the car was also serviced in January 2019 at 88,459 miles by Belgravia Garage where it also received new rear brake pads and discs, along with the wiper blades and a bulb.
  • The current keeper has only used Shell V-Power fuel during their ownership.
