KEY FACTS

• A cherished example of the stylish executive saloon in a sought-after specification.
• It is powered by a 282bhp 4.4-litre naturally aspirated ’M62’ V8 engine, which drives the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Affectionately known as the ‘Sporty Shorty’ by enthusiasts, the 740i with sport suspension, sport differential, and Anthracite headlining is a particularly desirable variant of the E38 model.
• From the factory, this particular 740i Sport benefitted from a number of desirable options, including the Contour electric sport seats, M-Sport steering wheel, xenon headlights, sat-nav with TV, in-built Nokia carphone, full Oyster leather with wood trim and the ‘Traffic Master’ system.
• It is understood to remain original and unmodified throughout.
• Included with the car are three keys, a full BMW book packs, BMW tool kit, original first aid kit and plenty of receipts and paperwork from the vendor’s near 10 years of ownership, but no history is present prior to this.

CONDITION

• There is no known damage to the bodywork.
• The Biarritz Blue Metallic paintwork is assumed to be original, and presents well for its age. There are a few marks to the lower driver’s door, numerous small patches of bubbling below the rear number plate and offside rear arch, and some notable marks towards the bottom of the rear bumper.
• Inside, the Oyster leather interior is in excellent condition, with only modest wear noted to the front seats and outer bolsters.
• The Anthracite headliner is in great shape and taut throughout, with no noticeable marks or staining.
• The vendor reports that there are no faults or warning lights present, though both the Traffic Master system and analogue TV no longer work due to being obsolete.
• In addition to this, the vendor reports the handbrake release lever is broken, but the handbrake is still functional.
• The most recent MOT test took place on 6 July 2021, resulting in a pass with an advisory for wear to all four tyres.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The most recent work carried out on the 740i took place at 107,650 miles, including the repair of the fuel tank, new brake discs and pads all round, and new handbrake shoes.
• In addition to the aforementioned work, the car was also given and oil and filter service at the same time, along with the fitment of two new front tyres, an air-conditioning re-gas and a wheel alignment.
• Between 2013 and 2021, the car was placed in long-term professional storage.
• During the vendor’s ownership the car has received a new alternator, new water pump and auxiliary belts, and new lower front suspension arms.
