This 1999 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4 Cabriolet is a smart example of an exciting open-top sports car, which boasts a desirable specification. It is equipped with the 3.4-litre flat-six engine producing 300bhp, with four-wheel drive via an engaging six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 111,156 miles.

First registered in May 1999, this 911 has been with its current keeper for seven years. It left the factory finished in Ocean Blue metallic paintwork, with an interior trimmed in full tan leather. The options included the sought-after 10mm-lowered sport suspension, sport seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and 993 Turbo-style wheels. It remains highly original, but now features a ‘Gundo’ exhaust modification for a more vocal tone.

The car’s bodywork is in generally good condition, and the blue paintwork is in good order for a well-used example. The vendor has reported some cracking to the paintwork on the front and rear bumpers, while there are some stone chips on the bonnet and a couple of small dents in the doors, which the vendor reports could be removed by a specialist. The lacquer on the offside rear wing also shows signs of age.

The soft-top roof appears to fit very well and presents with just a couple of light marks. It rides on the original 18-inch Turbo alloy wheels, which feature a few kerb scratches and chips. The original colour-coded hard top roof is also included in the sale.

Inside, the tan leather upholstery is in good condition and is believed to be entirely original, now presenting with a handsome patina and a few light creases and scuffs on the bolsters. The leather-clad door cards and tan carpets are in good shape, and the centre consoles, air vent surrounds, and key barrel are finished in the body colour – though this may be a later addition. There is some wear to the switchgear in places, but all of the electrics are believed to work correctly.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in March 2021 at 111,133 miles, where technicians at Porsche specialist Ashgood replaced a worn rear anti-roll bar as part of a pre-MOT check-over. Prior to this, in January 2019 at 107,128 miles, technicians at Charles Ivey in London replaced the engine oil, filter, front drop links and driveshaft gaiters, before renewing the wishbone fittings and repairing an exhaust leak. In February 2016 at 80,010 miles, technicians at Charles Ivey also replaced the clutch, flywheel, brake discs and pads.

A routine engine oil and filter change took place in October 2015 at 87,716 miles, alongside the fitment of new spark plug tubes and seals, as well as new high and low-tone horns. The chassis rails and shock absorbers were cleaned at this point, before being coated with anti-corrosion wax.

The most recent MOT test was undertaken on 4 March 2021 at 111,133 miles, which resulted in a pass with eight advisories to monitor worn offside front and rear tyres, while technicians found a nail in the nearside rear, which has since been removed and plugged, and a cut in the nearside front. Other advisories included minor oil and exhaust leaks, as well as wear to the brake discs. The vendor also reports that 2nd gear is occasionally tricky to select while the gearbox oil is still warming up.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original guarantee, stereo and service booklets in their factory wallet, alongside a raft of maintenance invoices, the full toolkit, a spare wheel and two keys. A tool to release the soft-top roof will also be supplied, along with a protective bag for the removable hard top.
