1997 PORSCHE 911 (993) GT2 CLUBSPORT - RECREATION

KEY FACTS

  • A unique right-hand drive GT2 Clubsport ‘clone’, based on a matching numbers 993 Turbo, and which is in homage to the only ‘Blutorange’ Clubsport (in LHD) ever to leave the factory.
  • It is powered by the 3.6-litre ‘M64’ flat-six with K24 twin-turbos and an FVD upgraded ECU, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
  • The build was undertaken at Heritage AutoWerks in Langley between 2017 and 2018, a specialist well known for support and maintenance of some truly eclectic cars and a wealth of expertise in the bespoke build process. The company is also experienced in running and servicing genuine GT2s.
  • The car’s extensive service history dates back to 2002.
  • In the seller’s view, this is “as close as you will ever get to a factory RHD GT2 Clubsport at an affordable cost”.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • As part of the build, the body was stripped down to its bare shell, which was fitted with a 993 Clubsport roll cage, RS door panels, a factory GT2 body kit and a full steel roof replacement catering for the ‘sunroof delete’.
  • The car was given a full Clubsport interior, with the correct glovebox and lower dashboard delete. It also has Recaro bucket seats with Schroth four-point racing harnesses and a Momo-for-Porsche steering wheel.
  • It has OEM GT2 suspension with RS front uprights, tie rods, bushings and a front strut brace; along with an OEM clutch and correct rear driveshafts.
  • There is also a GT2 brake booster system and stainless steel flexible brake lines; plus GT wide-track front camber plates and rear mounts.
  • Other RS equipment includes the correct, engine mounts, transmission mount, short shifter, rods, light panel, windshield, rear windscreen, washer bottle, wing mirrors, battery cut off, gear lever and lower console interior lighting.
  • Accompanying the vehicle are a raft of maintenance invoices, a full record of the build process and a set of spare keys.
  • A full specification rundown is included below the listing.

CONDITION

  • Prior to the build, the car was involved in a low-speed front impact in 2004, resulting in damage to the front bumper and boot floor. Due to the cost of repair, it was written off as a ‘Category D’ vehicle. However, while the front bumper was replaced and boot floor was repaired, all other body panels remained original and unaffected. Given that this car was stripped to a bare shell as part of the build process, which was in turn fully stripped of all paint, the new owner can rest assured that there is nowhere for any repairs to hide on this full Clubsport car. It has a pure paint finish on all panels with no underseal, and the finish on the underside and wheel arches is as good as the external panels.
  • It was fully inspected by Autolign in 2012, and was subsequently moved from the Condition Alert Register (VCAR) to the Condition Inspected Register (VCIR). Between 2017 and 2018, the front bumper was changed to GT2 specification, and the boot floor was replaced, eradicating any physical trace of prior damage or repair.
  • Its resprayed paintwork is in excellent shape, with a few minor stone chips noted on the rear wheel arches. The front bumper and bonnet are covered in PPF.
  • The cabin is in great condition, with no significant wear to the Recaro seats and just a few light marks on the Momo steering wheel.
  • No electrical faults have been detected.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 25 November 2020 at 65,730 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Its engine has been fully resealed with top and bottom cam covers and gaskets, along with new rear timing chain cover gaskets and seals, new spark plugs, plug leads and replacement of the power steering belt.
  • Its most recent service was in November 2020 at 65,730 miles, where technicians at Heritage AutoWerks changed the engine oil, filter along with a full check-over and MOT test.
