1997 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA S

This 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S is a very smart example of an eminently usable 911, which has been given an aftermarket spoiler and has relatively low mileage. It is equipped with the 282bhp 3.6-litre ‘VarioRam’ flat-six engine, coupled to the four-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 83,446 km (51,851 miles) from new.

First registered in Japan, this left-hand drive 993 Carrera S has been in the hands of its current keeper for four years. He imported it to the UK where it was re-registered with the DVLA in April 2019.

The bodywork is all in good shape, presenting with flush shut lines and smooth panels. The condition of its silver paintwork has been described as generally very good, having some age-related stone chips around the front end, a few small scuffs on the front bumper, blemishes over the right-side front wing, and some chipped paint on the driver’s door. The rear wing presents well, while the car rides on 18-inch wheels, which are in great shape and are fitted with dummy centre-lock style caps.

Inside, the black leather upholstery is in good condition, presenting with some age-related creasing and surface cracks, but with no visible rips or tears. A couple of light marks can be seen on the door cards, though the dashboard and headlining are in very good order. All of the main contact points present well, as do the instrument dials. There are no known electrical faults, and no warning lights present.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in May 2020 at around 80,000 km, with a basic engine oil and filter service. Its last roadworthiness test was carried out in Northern Ireland in 2019, which is said to have resulted in only minor advisories. The vendor notes that while the tyres have plenty of tread left, they are now around six years old.

This Porsche 911 (993) Carrera S Tiptronic is a low-mileage example of a practical and exciting sports car, which has the desirable wide body aesthetic, and is enhanced by an aftermarket rear wing. It could make a fun weekend toy, a great choice for a long-distance road trip, or even a modern classic daily driver.
