1997 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA 4

This 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera 4 is a superb example of the last air-cooled and last hand-built 911 model, presented with outstanding service history from new. It is equipped with the 3.6-litre ‘VarioRam’ flat-six engine mated to the sought-after six-speed manual transmission, and features the optional lowered suspension. Finished in the classic combination of Arctic Silver over a Midnight Blue interior, the odometer shows 73,672 miles from new.

Built at the Zuffenhausen factory, this 993 Carrera 4 was first registered in the UK in February 1997, supplied new by Porsche dealer Arlington of Northampton. As the car is a 1997 model, it has the VarioRam engine, which provides higher torque in the mid range. It is understood that the car resided around the same area of Oxfordshire for the first 20 years of its life, and there are now six previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller acquired the car just over one year ago.

The silver paintwork is described as being in good condition, and has all of the factory stickers in place. It is believed to be the original finish, and as the car has been driven and enjoyed as intended, there are some minor stone chips at the front. The window seal rubbers all around the car appear to be in excellent condition. It sits on the optional 17-inch Cup Design wheels, which are in very good order.

Inside, the blue leather upholstery is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. The trim is in excellent shape overall, and while the driver’s seat bolster was slightly worn when the seller acquired the car last year, he has since had it professionally re-connolised. The cabin is equipped with the optional sport seats featuring electric height adjustment, as well as air-conditioning and a factory-fitted sunroof.

This 993’s service history is comprehensive, with no fewer than 18 main dealer and specialist stamps present in the original maintenance booklet. The brake fluid and spark plugs were renewed less than 3,000 miles ago. It has just received an inspection and oil service at ZRS Engineering, so is ready for the next owner to drive and enjoy straight away.

Prior to this, it was recently serviced in February 2019 at the workshop of Francis Tuthill when the mileage stood at 72,957 miles. This work included an engine oil change, new filters, a rebuild of the distributor with new rotor caps and arms, and a full inspection of the underside.

The last MOT test was in June 2019 at 73,048 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories after a headlight aim was adjusted. With the six-month extension, the current MOT certificate remains valid until 17 December 2020. It is fitted with a full set of N-rated Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres, in size 205/50 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear.

This Porsche 993 Carrera 4 is an original C16 code UK model that has never been modified. Also included in the sale is the service book and owner’s manuals in the original Porsche wallet. The car still has the space-saver spare wheel and tool roll, as well as the tyre compressor.

It is accompanied by a large history file of paperwork, including invoices from all of the services. A cherished car presented in outstanding mechanical condition, this 911 wants for nothing and is ready to excite and delight a new owner.
