1995 PORSCHE 911 (993) TURBO

This Porsche 993 Turbo is a fine example of the marque’s final air-cooled 911, presented in an attractive colour scheme and in excellent condition throughout. It is equipped with the 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six, coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 61,260 miles from new.

First registered in August 1995, this 911 has been in the hands of its current keeper for the last ten years, who has covered around 2,700 miles behind the wheel. Of particular note is that it features the OPC dealer-fit factory Power Kit, which includes an extra oil cooler and a modified ECU, taking the output to 430bhp.

The bodywork of this 993 is all in very good shape, and it has been fully resprayed in its original Arena Red, matching the colour of the launch specification car. Though there is a small chip near the passenger door handle, the 911 has only covered around 200 miles since its re-paint, so it still looks absolutely superb overall. The car’s 18-inch alloy wheels, while showing some small signs of usage, present in very good order, housing standard discs and red callipers.

Inside, the Marble Grey leather upholstery is in good condition, presenting with a few light creases, and no heavy wear. There are one or two marks on the grey carpets, though the door cards and dashboard trim are in great shape. The cabin features a later Porsche three-spoke steering wheel (supplied and fitted by an OPC) alongside a Nakamichi stereo, though both original items will be supplied in the sale.

The telephone kit was fitted long before the vendor’s ownership, but it is reported to work perfectly, and they have since sourced a ‘new old stock’ Nokia handset to give it an authentic 1990s appearance. The trip computer display beneath the tachometer works as it should save that one or two of the segments in the 7-segment digits do not illuminate, while the air-conditioning system might benefit from being re-gassed as this was last done in 2018.

The 911 will be given a fresh service during the auction in March 2021, so it will be ready to drive and enjoy immediately after handover. Prior to this, its last routine maintenance was undertaken in June 2018 at 60,966 miles, where technicians at Paragon Porsche in Mayfield carried out a 24,000 mile service, renewing the drive belts, and also replacing the boost pressure sender unit, intercooler boost hoses, and turbo heat shield. A fault was fixed with the remote alarm, while all four tyres were replaced and the air conditioning was re-gassed.

Other maintenance during the vendor’s ownership included a service in January 2017 at 60,912 miles, which included replacement of the intercooler O-rings, offside exhaust heat shields, exhaust mounts, engine oil and filter, brake fluid, and clutch fluid; and in December 2013 at 60,458 miles, with replacement of the engine oil and filter, nearside heat exchanger silicone duct, rear wishbone fillers, and gas bonnet struts.

The most recent MOT test was on 12 December 2017 at 60,957 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. While it has been in dry, dehumidified storage for the last few years, it has been regularly started and exercised on the vendor’s private land to keep the mechanicals lubricated and in good running order. As stated, the car’s Michelin tyres were fitted around 200 miles ago by Paragon Porsche and are in excellent condition.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manuals and service book in their factory leather wallet, along with a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates and tax discs – all stored in a large ring binder. A spare unused space-saver wheel, toolkit roll, Porsche air compressor, two keys with two immobilisers and an alarm fob will also be supplied.

This Porsche 993 Turbo is a superb example of the breed, with the sought-after factory Power Kit, a recent respray and excellent maintenance history. As the flagship production model from the last air-cooled generation of 911, this 993 will appeal to discerning collectors and driving enthusiasts alike, and needs nothing to relish on the road immediately.
