1995 PORSCHE 911 (993) CARRERA

This Porsche 911 Carrera is a useable and original example of the 993-generation sportscar. Under the rear engine lid resides an air-cooled 3.6-litre flat six producing 282bhp, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The car has covered 111,353 miles, with the odometer replaced at 19,088 miles on 15 November 1999.

A UK-market example, this 911 has been in the hands of the current vendor for the past 21 years, who has carried out a raft of preventative and scheduled maintenance during their time with the car. First registered on 6 February 1995, it remains in largely standard condition throughout, and has had a total of four owners.

Wearing a Midnight Blue finish, the svelte lines of the 993 remain in good order, with no dents or dings. Some stone chips and minor scratches are visible to the front bumper, and superficial marks elsewhere that can be seen in the photo gallery. The vendor adds that the luggage compartment lid, the area surrounding the rear window and the scuttle panel were all resprayed in August 2020, while the wheel arches and sills were also repainted in February 2019; following repair works to the offside sill and replacement of the nearside sill.

The correct badging, headlights and tail lights are all present, remaining in good order throughout. Riding on five-spoke 17-inch ‘Cup 2’ alloy wheels, these are in good condition with no kerbing damage visible.

Inside, the 993’s cabin remains in impressive condition. The blue leather upholstery is free of rips or tears, with the slightest signs of wear visible on the outer bolsters of the optional and sought-after front sport seats, as well as the steering wheel. The vendor adds that the upholstery of both front seats was refurbished during 2020, while a new gear knob and gaiter have also been fitted – though the original items are also included.

An aftermarket Clarion CD player is fitted, with the rest of the dashboard and its switchgear remaining original (including the cassette tape storage in the central armrest). The vendor adds that everything remains in full working order with no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.

The most recent service was by Porsche specialist Two Plus Two in March 2020 at 111,251 miles. This was an engine oil service, with a split driveshaft boot also replaced, along with adjustment of the handbrake shoes. Prior to this, the same garage serviced the car in June 2019 and replaced the nearside rear wheel bearing, as well as the spark plugs. Later that year, the battery and rear light cluster were replaced, with the heater blower resistor also replaced. New upper camshaft covers and gaskets were fitted, along with the engine cooling air guide, nearside rear track control arm and offside front track rod and gaiter.

Over the course of two decades’ of ownership, the vendor has carried out many items of age-related maintenance, including replacement of the sunroof drive cable and seal in 2015, a new clutch in 2012, and the driver’s window lifter rail being replaced in 2017.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 April 2021. This was a first-time pass, with advisories for the condition of all four brake discs, both front brake hoses and a minor oil leak. Wearing a matched set of Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres all round, these have covered approximately 660 miles since fitment in March 2018 and remain in as-new condition.

This Porsche 993 Carrera is an honest and usable example of the last-ever air-cooled 911. Offering a robust service history along with low ownership and a smart colour scheme, it could be a great value introduction to modern classic Porsche ownership, or a compelling candidate for some further improvement by the next owner.
