• A cherished and relatively rare transaxle sports car, benefitting from much cosmetic refurbishment in recent years.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Finished in rare Polar Silver with black cloth upholstery, this 968 Sport was also specified with silver wheels and side protection mouldings.
• Original throughout, the only known modification made to the vehicle is an upgraded Janspeed exhaust system. The Blaupunkt Hamburg radio cassette unit is believed to have been fitted when new.
• The vendor notes that the bumpers have never been drilled for numberplates, instead using double-sided adhesive pads, while authentic AFN dealership plates and stickers are in place on the vehicle.
• Included with the car are the original manuals and handbooks, book pack, two service books showing 24 stamps to date, and an extensive file of paperwork including MOTs and invoices from 1998 onwards. The Blaupunkt stereo manuals and key cards are also present.
• The original sales brochure, price list, dealer directory and paint colour catalogue are all included, along with two spare keys and two immobiliser keys.

CONDITION

• There is no damage to the bodywork.
• This 968 Sport was professionally resprayed to a very high standard during 2018, and presents in outstanding condition as a result, with the vendor stating the car is also rust-free behind the side skirts.
• The wheels are in great condition, although two alloys have some surface marks, and have been fitted with new Porsche centre caps during the vendor’s ownership.
• The vendor notes that the headlights both go up-and-down in-sync, with no hesitation or sluggishness.
• Inside, the cabin presents wonderfully and shows very little sign of wear for its age and mileage. The seat fabric shows no significant wear or damage, while the dashboard, centre console and headliner are all in excellent condition.
• The vendor notes that the adjustable door mirrors are temperamental, and the LCD screen on the clock is failing, though a repair kit is included with the car.
• The electric sunroof works very well, and the storage bag for the panel is present.
• There are no known electrical faults, and no warning lights present on the dashboard.
• The most recent MOT test took place on 14 October 2020, and resulted in a first-time pass with advisories for corrosion on the offside fuel pipe and brake pipe, slight play in the steering column joint and front shock absorbers, and a minor leak from the rear exhaust section.
• The MOT history shows that the car has never failed a test.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The latest service took place during October 2020 at 109,200 miles, and was carried out by Porsche Centre Tonbridge. This included a full vehicle health check, oil and filter change, brake fluid change, and the fitment of a new power steering pump, drive belt and passenger window glass.
• Prior to this, the car was serviced in November 2017 by Peaslake garage of Surrey, which saw an oil and filter change carried out, along with the replacement of the water pump and the fitting of a new head gasket and all timing, drive and auxiliary belts.
• In June 2016, the car was serviced by Porsche Centre Cambridge at 107,478 miles, including an oil and filter change, air filter change, replacement fuel filter, new spark plugs and a brake fluid flush.
• In addition to routine servicing, a full set of Porsche N3-rated Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres was fitted in September 2020 at 109,147 miles. New Porsche genuine rubber seals have been fitted to the side skirt assemblies, and upgraded headlamp bulbs have been fitted.

SUMMARY

Wonderfully original and evidently well maintained, this is a superb example of the Porsche 968 Sport that benefits from a recent full respray. Presenting in very good condition for its age and likely requiring only very minor mechanical attention in relation to the most recent MOT advisories in due course, this 968 would make a wonderful addition to any marque enthusiast’s garage.
