1994 PORSCHE 911 (964) SPEEDSTER

KEY FACTS

  • One of only 936 examples of the 964 Speedster, which has undergone a full engine rebuild and boasts some custom modifications.
  • It is equipped with an air-cooled 247bhp 3.6-litre flat-six engine, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
  • Originally delivered within Germany, the car was exported to the UK and re-registered there in February 2000. It has been in the current ownership for nearly 16 years.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • While this car originally left the factory in dark Midnight Blue, it has been given a respray in the more eye-catching Maritime Blue hue. The inside of the engine bay and beneath the boot carpet remain in Midnight Blue.
  • This 964 Speedster was also specified with the more comfortable heated Sport seats rather than the standard RS bucket seats, an on-board computer, and air-conditioning.
  • The car also comes with an aftermarket Strosek hard-top roof.
  • It has also been fitted with an original ZF limited-slip differential, a dual-outlet Cargraphic exhaust, 18-inch split-trim alloy wheels and a 964 RS-style front splitter, brake cooling ducts, and rear bumper.
  • Its original owner’s manual, service book and toolkit will be included, along with a Certificate of Authenticity and a large folder of maintenance invoices.
  • The speedometer and odometer were changed from kilometres to miles at around 99,000 km, with the latter correctly adjusted to the correct equivalent figure, and the original gauges will be supplied.

  • C00: German market car
  • 139: Seat heating, left

  • The car has been driven and enjoyed, and its resprayed paintwork has noticeable stone chipping around the front bumper, bonnet and headlight bezels in particular, as well as on the rear ‘shark fin’ guards.
  • Its original black leather upholstery is in good shape, with a handsome patina and some very light creasing, but no rips or tears.
  • No electrical faults have been detected.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 8 June 2021 at 73,683 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Its most recent recorded service was in May 2019 at 71,162 miles, where technicians at Stewart White Racing changed the engine oil, gearbox oil and brake fluid.

SUMMARY

This Porsche 964 Speedster is a rare and sought-after 1990s open-top sports car, with a number of discerning modifications, and a vibrant resprayed exterior. With an engine rebuild around 5,000 miles ago, and benefiting from the option of a Strosek hard top to give the car coupe-like usability, this could be a great modern classic to enjoy on longer road trips, and would of course be a striking addition to any collection of performance cars.
