1992 PORSCHE 911 (964) CARRERA 2 'WTL' CABRIOLET

This Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is a superb example of one of only 1,200 ‘Works Turbo Look’ models produced as a swansong for the 964 generation car. Under the rear decklid lies a 3.6-litre, air-cooled flat six producing approximately 247bhp and 228lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The odometer reads 93,416 km from new.

First registered on 11 June 1992 in Switzerland, this 964 has been owned by the current vendor for the past four years. Now registered on German number plates, it remains in highly original condition.

The 964’s attention-grabbing wide-arch bodywork remains in excellent condition throughout. The front end and bonnet are free of any large stone chips, though the plastic film trim ahead of the rear wheels is peppered with ‘road rash’, most noticeably on the driver’s side. The light lenses, original badging and glass remain in compelling condition, while the electrically operated soft top motors up and down with no problems. The vendor adds that the soft top was replaced in September 2019. Riding on 17-inch ‘Cup’ alloy wheels, these are free of kerbing marks, and present very well.

Upholstered in Sherwood Green leather, the Carrera 2’s interior is believed to be entirely original to the car. It presents in excellent order throughout, with no rips or tears visible to the leather. Signs of wear are visible on the front bolsters of both electrically adjustable seats, while the gear knob and steering wheel show patina. The vendor adds that everything remains functional, and that there are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. This example has been updated with a Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) sat-nav and stereo system with iPod and aux-in connectivity.

The most recent service was carried out on 1 March 2021 at 93,391 km, when the engine oil and brake fluid were both replaced, and the only other maintenance during the vendor’s ownership has been an air-conditioning service.

The most recent German TÜV inspection was carried out in August 2020, with no advisories noted. Wrapped in a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, these are in very good order with no visible damage.

This 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is an attractively specified and highly original example of a rare ‘Works Turbo Look’ variant. Offering an analogue driving experience and top-down enjoyment, it would be a fine road trip companion for warm-weather drives, or a great addition to any discerning Porsche collection.
