1991 PORSCHE 911 (964) CARRERA 2 TARGA

This Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Targa is an exciting open-top 911, with a discreet colour scheme and which presents in good condition throughout. It is equipped with a rebuilt 247bhp air-cooled 3.6-litre flat-six engine, coupled with the four-speed Bosch-ZF Tiptronic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 124,307 km, though the vendor reports the accurate mileage is around 192,400 km, and that the odometer was changed from miles to km in 2014.

First registered in July 1991, this US-market Targa was exported to Europe in 2011, and has now been in the hands of its current keeper for eight years. Within the last few years, the engine has been rebuilt, and the car has been cosmetically refurbished.

The bodywork of this 911 is all in good shape today, though the vendor notes that it previously suffered from some minor damage to the front right in 1993 when nearly new. It was fully resprayed in 2020 as part of a restoration, and the finish is now in very good condition overall, with no stone chips or scuffs – though the vendor notes that the work was done to a professional but not concours standard. The Targa roof has just a couple of light surface blemishes, while the car now rides on a set of 18-inch Fuchs wheels, which are in superb condition. Inside, the black leather seats feature just some age-related creasing, and the leather-clad door cards are in excellent shape. Some age-related marks can be seen across the dashboard, which the vendor reports may have been caused by exposure to strong sunlight during its time in the US, while some light nicks and scratches can be seen on the handbrake lever. An aftermarket Bluetooth-equipped stereo has been installed, and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in January 2021, where technicians at Porsche Service Drux in Frankfurt carried out an oil service. Prior to this, the engine was rebuilt in March 2018 by TTP Automotive, after some problems were encountered with the car’s first engine rebuild in March 2015 – and it has covered less than 5,000 km since the rebuild. The Michelin tyres are reported to be in good condition, all with around 75% of their tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle will be a raft of maintenance invoices from the last eight years, along with a Carfax vehicle history report, German registration documents and various TÜV certificates. The vendor notes that they have spent approximately €35,000 on improving and maintaining the car over the last eight years.
