This 1990 Porsche 944 S2 is a stylish modern classic sports car, presented in fantastic condition and with low mileage. It is powered by a 3.0-litre aluminium-block inline-four, which produces 208bhp and drives the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays 66,250 miles.

An original UK-market right-hand drive car, this 944 S2 was built in March 1990, and was sold to its first owner in January 1991 by Porsche Cambridge. Finished with Black paintwork over a Linen interior, it is equipped with headlamp washers, automatic heating, ABS and an electric sunroof. The car has been owned by a number of Porsche enthusiasts over its life, with five previous keepers, and was acquired by the seller just over 18 months ago.

Today, the bodywork is in very good order, with no evidence of any damage and with flush shut lines. Believed to have been partly or fully resprayed in the past, the black paintwork is in very good condition, and has recently been fully detailed by Richard Tipper of Perfection Valet. The finish does feature some small blemishes including stone chips and a scratch on the rear wing, but these are minor, and are in line with the car’s use.

The exterior trim also presents very well, and the clear vinyl protectors ahead of the rear wheel arches are present and correct. Furthermore, the light lenses and glass are free of any substantial chips or cracks; however, the windscreen is beginning to delaminate, particularly in the bottom driver’s-side corner. This S2 rides on the correct set of 16-inch ‘Design 90’ alloy wheels, which are in generally very good order.

Stepping inside, the cabin is in impressive condition for its age. The front seat facings are clad in bright Linen leather, while the rest of the cabin upholstery is leatherette, and it remains in great shape throughout with no rips or tears. There is only minor wear on the driver’s seat, commensurate with the car’s age and mileage. The original steering wheel and gear knob are in very good condition.

The car is fitted with a Blaupunkt Bremen DAB radio, which blends in well with its surroundings, and is linked to four Infinity speakers. While the passenger-side electric window switch is not functioning, it can still be operated via the driver’s second switch. All of the other electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This modern classic Porsche’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in October 2019 at 66,000 miles by 944 specialist Retro Restorer. A major service, this included replacement of the engine oil, filters, spark plugs, belts and pulleys. During the seller’s ownership, the car has also been fitted with a new stainless-steel exhaust back box.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 15 September 2020 at 66,000 miles, which resulted in a clean, first-time pass. The wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres, which were fitted in 2019 and have close to their original levels of tread remaining.

The car will be accompanied by its original handbook and stamped service book, as well as all of its past MOT test certificates and a Certificate of Authenticity. It will also be supplied with its full tool kit, air compressor, and locking wheel nut key.

This Porsche 944 S2 is a very smart example of the breed, which is presented in impressive overall condition and has covered just 250 miles since it was fully serviced by a model specialist. Described by the seller as being in superb order, this is an increasingly sought-after modern classic that is ready to enjoy on the road immediately.
