Boasting a timeless colour combination and perfect stance, this Porsche 964 Carrera 4 drives beautifully. It benefits from much recent mechanical work and some tasteful upgrades. Finished in deep black with cream leather seats, the car has covered 108,195 miles from new.

Powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission with four-wheel drive, this is a very usable 911 and a fine road trip vehicle. Thanks to some comprehensive maintenance and improvements by the vendor, the car now needs only minor cosmetic work to become a truly superb example.

First registered on 17 October 1990, this Carrera 4 has been owned by the vendor for around three years. In this time, he has covered approximately 1,000 miles.

The vendor believes the paintwork to be original, and describes the finish as good overall. The black hue suits the curves of the 964 very well, but there are a number of small chips, scratches and minor blistering in some areas. Trim items such as door handles are also slightly tired, and one rear light lens shows a crack – which is clearly visible in the detailed photo gallery. The 18-inch five-spoke spilt rims fill the arches perfectly and are in great condition all round with no signs of damage, with yellow brake callipers adding a pop of colour.

Moving inside, the classic 911 sports seats in cream leather with black piping have been refurbished and therefore present very well with minimal wear. The door cards have not been attended to, nor have the carpets or handbrake lever, and therefore would benefit from some cosmetic rejuvenation. There is some slight aging visible to select switchgear, as one would expect on a car of this age. The car benefits from an upgraded stereo head unit with Bluetooth capability, and the gear knob has also been swapped for a later Porsche item.

The car has a very good service history, which is summarised below, with the vendor focussing on the car’s mechanical condition throughout his ownership. The car has also received a full refurbishment of the braking system as well as the fitment of adjustable suspension that has been expertly set up to ensure superb handling and the aforementioned purposeful stance. The car also benefits from a carbon-fibre air box to the engine for gains in air flow and sound.

The car is currently receiving a minor service and MOT, so will be fresh from a maintenance visit for the next owner. Prior to this, it was serviced at specialist Statller Limited in Sheffield, at just over 108,000 miles in February 2020, again at Statller in December 2018, and at Specialist Cars of Malton in December 2011.

As stated above, the car is currently having an MOT, so will have a new 12-month certificate for the next owner. Its last MOT test was on 19 December 2018 at 108,012 miles, with the only notes being a non-excessive oil leak and a deteriorated nearside front ball joint dust cover. The wheels are fitted with Pirelli tyres with between 3mm and 4mm of tread all round.

An on-the-button example of one of the most usable classic 911s, this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 is perfect for an enthusiast who prioritises driving pleasure, needing only some cosmetic refurbishment in places to create a truly superb example of the breed.
